Chances of increasing max dosing stations?

Does GHL have any plans to make a firmware that will support more than 8 dosing pumps? I'm already at 7 dosing pumps, but my plans are to continue to automate as much foods and supplements as possible.

Eventually I will buy the 8th pump, but I'd like to continue to have more pumps. Currently, I dose the following on each pump:

1. FM UltraBak
2. Alkalinity
3. Calcium
4. FM PowerTrace 1
5. FM PowerTrace 2
6. FM PowerTrace 3
7. FM PowerTrace 4

Once I buy the 8th pump, I'll be starting the FM Balling method which will occupy 3 dosing pumps thus maxing out the Profilux dosing pump capacity.

I'd still like to have UltraAmin, UltraOrganic, and top-off automated.

So are there any chances of surpassing the 8 max pumps for the Profilux? I'd sure like to see that! :D

I'd prefer to stick to the GHL brand instead of going out and buying another brand dosing system.

Well that will cost a significant amount of more money. Since the pumps on that unit will be standalone does that mean that I will not be able to use Profilux control to control the standalone dosing system?

you can connect more than 2 dosing pump units because you can assign any address to them (assuming you use them in a bus topology)

Since there are only 8 dosing channels you could use timers for example to control more than 8 pumps.

RRL - I have just started the Balling method using the Profilux. I am not sure if there are advantages to using the FM Ultra Power Trace as compared to FM Ultra Trace B solutions or not, but the Trace B(alling) solutions allow you to combine the trace elements into your Balling salts so you only need 3 pumps total to dose everything. That is what I am doing. I have a four pump Profilux doser and eventually want to dose the UltraAmin and Ultra Organic with the 4th pump.. not sure if those two solutions can be combined though..

I don't think that would work, the minimum on time is 1 minutes and that equals 60ml.
That would mean that you can only dose by multiple of 60ml?

Am I wrong? if so please tell me how to dose 15ml with the timer?

I think Lorin means the min time that can be set by the profiLux controller (not the doser) is in minutes not seconds, unless this has now changed

Plus wouldn’t this ware the relay as you could easily dose 60 ml (60 x 1ml) a day???

haaa silly me I was thinking it was connected to the powerbar... I really need to get my hand on a doser soon :c)

Hi Stratos

The balling System and the Ultralith System are 2 different Systems
which can be combined.

The balling System is for the grow of the corals and calcification of the tank. Another system like the calcium reactor.

In the Trace B ( balling) elements are only this trace elements which help to grow corals and stabilize the system

Our Powertrace elements are create for the Ultralith System or for single use
They brings a coloration and helps the corals to reduce stress.
If you add both systems you can reduce the dosing levels of the Powertrace Elements a little bit

Hi Claude,

Thank you for the info on the differences of the trace element solutions. I have a brand new system with all of the corals being small frags. I probably do not need to dose for coloration yet, but am interested in controlling that eventually.

One of the things that I do want to maintain through trace dosing is the right level of Potassium (K). I have seen through my previous holding tank which used Ultrlith - certain coral (specifically monitpora types) edges lost their color until I started dosing Organic and Amin. I have read that this can be a symptom of low K. Do you think water changing and the Trace B will hold the K in the correct range?

Just to let you know on the subject of potassium, the laboratory grade Fauna test kits are not available, these are of extreme accuracy.
