I have a female Clarki (male jumped, replacement in QT) and she has lived in her anenome for 3 years. It used to split often and I have some little ones in teh sump. The anenome hasn't split in maybe 18 months and it is MASSIVE. It is 2 foot in diameter when it expands a few hours after the halides come on. At night it retracts into the rock and you can hardly see it. The base in on the sand and when it expands it is 5" from the surface and yep, 2 foot across.
I'm about to redo my rockwork and want to attempt corals again at some point but this anenome takes up half my tank. It's awesome, but there are limits. I'm thinking of either getting a carpet anenome or replacing it with a small one in the sump. But even if I replace it with a smaller one it's going to get huge again?
It's a Sebae by the way, boring and brown but bloody huge.
I could maybe make a small column for it and place the base high up.
Any ideas on how to tackle this situation? I see all these awesome tanks with pics of a tiny nem on the sand not interfering with anything. I have a 340g tank and an anenome lives in half of it. :mad2:
