cheap tunze prices

Tunze has a MAP for their products. If you sell below that MAP price you cannot buy from Tunze.
I am no lawyer but that is against the law! You can't tell someone what they can resell for. I worked for a wholesale shoe company years ago that got sued(sp) for price fixing. If they wont sell to you they better have a better reason than price-maybe some lawyers will sign in on this one.

Phil, fraid not, there are a few manufactures that do that, because smaller companys dont have the overhead that bigger ones do and they usually pay the same price, so they try to make it fair across the board ,otherwise the guy with no overhead could sell for $1 over what he paid and make profit, but the guy with overhead has to make $20 to break even on overhead! Or atleast thats the idea they have !!!

actually, you can have a suggested retail price, but they can't enforce it. The retailer can sell it for what ever price they desire. They might be able to cut you off for not selling for their MSRP, but Tunze would be walking a very very very fine line. The company I use to work for got hit for big $$ more than once. If Tunze was a big company and had large profits-then I am sure they would change their pricing policy. Here are some examples- $34 million??

They can't "make" you sell it for a certain price but they can choose to not do bus. with you if you don't sell it for thier price recommendation. I think that keeps it from being price fixing. Most markets they don't mess with but some more than others. I'm not even allowed to ask another Chiropractor what he charges for an office visit! Yet a book called fee facts is sold yearly for 200 bucks that has a national/regional average for each proceedure.

I believe playstation got in huge trouble when they told their distributors they couldnt deviate from a set price. Im guessing though that the eyes of the nation arent focused in on an aquarium flow device as they were on a video game console

Just look at IPODS, XBox's, and Playstations. You just don't find these discounted or on sale. You may find package deals and other such promotions. No matter what anyone says, manufactures have ways of keeping prices where they want them. TUNZE is one of them.

There are other compaines that do this and that I have gotten emails from about my prices. So I do know what I am talking about.

With that I leave you to this thread and I am staying out of all equipment realted threads and posts.

Ummmm Mark, please dont take offense, no one ever said you didnt know what you were talking about. And I didnt mean anything nasty about you commenting in the first place.

We as a collective community were commenting on our perceptions of how pricing on various items have been handled in the past. Heck, as a group we may not know anything. You as someone who is involved on a day to day basis probably know more than the rest of us combined on this stuff.

Bottom line is if you are looking for tunze, and can get it cheaper, go for it.

Just a word of warning, we have no dealers in Kansas at this time. I would definitely put this in the category of buyer beware. At present if they were to become a dealer it could take as long as 8 weeks to fill some orders. It is possible they are buying them through a middleman but I have yet to find that middleman and even so, factoring the middlemans mark up they are virtually giving away the waveboxes. For a complete and recently updated list of our dealers go to the tunze website.

well with all the recent input and a tunze sponser talking I have decided not to buy from them, but will buy another one from Mark later, when I'm done with finals
