cheato question

My LFS store has there cheato and Calupera growing in the same tank, it has become intertwined. I was thinking of buying some Cheato from them. Even if I pick out the Calupera from the Cheato is it possible to infect my tank with Calupera? Are there certain macro algaes that I should be weary of, growing in the same tank as Cheato?

I suppose it is remotely possible if you pull it all out but very unlikely.

Caulerpa is invasive and difficult to remove once it establishes itself. I learned the hard way. I purchased a batch of chaetomorpha through from a web retailer for my refugium. Unbeknowst to me, it was infested with caulerpa.

The infestation started with small green strands that began growing on my live rock. At first, it was not possible to distinguish it from hair algae or bryopsis. Later the strands developed green bubbles and cups characteristic of C. racemosa and C. peltata.

You will not be able to distinguish small bits of caulerpa in the mass of chaetomorpha. I would look for chaetomorpha at another LFS.
