Hello to all,

I just saw this video of a car that runs on water and I had to share it with you all. I had to upload it onto a myspace profile because I couldn't figure out how to post it here.

Mods; if this is a problem please remove the link. I don't want to cause you any trouble or violate any rules-just want to share this exciting glimpse of what the future may hold =)

Check it out!!!!!

Interesting; I heard this guy on the BBC a while back. The only problem is how scarce potable water is in the world already!

Does the water need to be DI or distilled or would tap water work?

He's talking about 100miles on 4 oz!!!! That's insane =)

yeah, that's what I was thinking =) I'm gonna buy stock in resindepot hehe they will be selling a lot of DI resin if this goes mainstream =)

i have seen something like this about 20 years ago on a science show. some guy fills a cartridge with water, plugs it into his car and then turns his car on. rumor has it that his technology was bought out by a car company or possibly an oil company. one can only imagine what kind of hitmen/lawyers/buyout men/make you disappear for hire guy they may have already lined up if this technology breaks onto the consumer market.

remember: 9/10 of the largest companies in the world is a car or oil company. their financial resources greatly and vastly outweigh one little guy. in addition, oil and gas plays an overwhelmingly HUGE role in this countries economics.

i just got a dyson vacuum and on the leaflet it said that dyson pitched his 'bagless' vacuum cleaner to a major vacuum manafactuer. the maker said no thanks. due to the success of the dyson, the maker said in hindsight that he wished he bought out dysons technology and shelved it because vacuum bags are a $500 million/year business!

i really really hope this one makes it to the market and not be shelved. this would be truly a david winning over goliath. this would indeed make this fellow a megabillionaire if he could get through all the hurdles. in addition, this would most likely put every oil company deep in the red and eventually out of business

though we all talk about saving the earth, nature and whatever...i have yet to encounter someone protesting about, say oil and the middle east, that didnt drive there! everyone i have met, myself included is a hypocrite in some way or another.

the good thing about a water powered car is that since the us is the largest consumer of fossil fuel AND we have a lot of potable water...this technology makes sense. unfortunately, he fails to mention how the electricity is generated, stored. this may be part of his patented technology. the expensive part could be the electricity generation (esp here in socal) or it could be next to nothing if you lived in an area where hydroelectricity is the main supplier.

I fear this one has been around for a long time down in the SW USA, and the usual story is that this guy has found a way to get pure water out of oil wells as a byproduct. The story takes in investors, the farmers [or more likely the city guys surrounded by farmers] sink money into it, and of course, there is no pure water from oil wells.
The car that runs on water will, perhaps materialize, sort of, as a hydrogen powered vehicle [water is 2 atoms of hydrogen bonded to one of oxygen]...but the breakdown of water to hydrogen is not in the foreseeable future going to be something you do in a little portable gadget. The production of hydrogen is accomplished now in big plants, and the reason hydrogen cars aren't taking off everywhere is because the delivery system for hydrogen is not easy.

25 years ago, there were hydrogen powered cars driving around Davis, CA. "5-10 years to production!" they said. Well, we're still waiting. Meanwhile, the protypes moved to West Sacramento and the largest investor is the State of California, with several international car companies next... and the federal government trailing way at the back end no matter how many photo ops the Prez does there.

Actually, many energy and oil companies have joined the CA Fuel Cell Partnership now, too.

Do big corporations buy good products and sit on them? Yep! But usually ideas get incorporated into existing products. Conspiracy theories abound, but there's no need to buy a patent and shelve it when there's no chance of a product competing with you. In the case of cars, the federal subsidiaries to fuel companies and car companies are so massive that new technologies without access to the same investments subsidaries can't compete financially.

In this day and age it's MUCH harder to squash information. And however much they pooh-pooh "Peak Oil" in public, they are start to hedge their bets and sink money into other forms of energy, too.

The water powered car (judging from the video) does the separation from H20 to HHO itself -- no processing process and the fuel delivery system is already in place anywhere there's running water.

Ben-I totally agree man, imagine the people who control the world letting us gas up at the hose-It's good enough for Government hummers but they're probably hoping the gov. contract will swamp this guy's resources and keep it out of the hands of the public.

I imagine the electricity comes from the hybrid portion of the car engine (generator) and is stored in batteries powered by hybrid technology like friction generators on the brakes etc. Either way for 100 miles to 4oz of water it would destroy the oil companies.

Sk8r- the gas it produces is HHO-not sure how the gas behaves but it seems to work for cutting metal =)

He used electricity to split the nuclear bonds of the molecules.

Don't expect the world to change anytime soon.

Atomic bonds actually, but you are right. You can't run a car on just water because it takes energy to split the water molecule so you can burn the hydrogen (and turn it back into water). The video says it goes 100 miles on 4 oz of water, but its a hybrid vehicle. He doesn't mention how much gasoline he's using to go that 100 miles. :)

Heavens no! Most of the idiots can't manage 2 dimensions on nice straight paved roads -- what would they do in 3?! (Insert image of stereotypical immortal 24 year old weaving through traffic in Chevy Tahoo here.)

haha, yeah--I do not want some drunk crashing his or her hovercar through my roof while I am sleeping =)

Jen edited the profile and removed the video today while I was gone so the mods can nuke the link if they need to. If anyone wants to see the video here is the code to embed it into your myspace or website:

******* allowScriptAccess="never" width="448" height="365" src="http://www.ifilm.com/efp" quality="high" bgcolor="000000" name="efp" align="middle" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" flashvars="flvbaseclip=2755387" ></embed>

Now I need one of you computer gurus to make it viewable on RC =).

I'm not too concern with the chevy tahoos as there seems to be more of the Honda noise makers here in Southern California - besides, Chevy's are just too darn heavy to run on road - no way they gonna be flying. :)

its simple... the more gas prices shoot through the roof.... the more someone will push towards finding away around the pump... im sure gas some time in the future will be used for very little more then cooking. only time will tell.

@ one point you will have to understand that there will be a person that will gathers that with his invention, he is rich already and no matter which way he swings with his idea (selling to another car co. that will sit on the product or selling to an industry that will mass produce) he will just be looking for a final resting place in the history books, hoping to avoid unbelievable good sharp shooters (oil company hired of course). if history has taught us one thing, the only thing consistent in this world and the next is CHANGE. if that was not the case this would prolly be a forum about the best way to prevent your neighbors raptor from eating your 7 ft 4 inch tall chickens :D change will come about no matter what several billion dollars might try to do in order to suppress it.

personally IMO they can keep there water powered cars.... i didn't do all this for nothing :p happy to say, she is FINALLY out of the impound... now i can get my MH 250's x2 :D

we already have alternative fuel sources...
I wish we would stop paying farmers to not grow food in order to regulate the food prices. Then we could tell them to grow all the food they wanted.. use the extra corn and soy and all to make ethanol... 90% of the vehicles on the road can run at a mixture of 85% ethanol..
Its like Jen and Ben said.. (hey that rhymed) There is too much money tied up in it.. the big dogs wont let it succeed. It would help alot of issues not just the environment but our economy and also world politics as we wouldn't have to prop up all the foriegn governments.

Water in gas tank.... how about **** in them.. I'm walkin

(although it sounded cool I plan to keep using my gas hog v-8 becuase I am a stubborn sob, whom by the way is having a hard time seeing this late, typeing and spelling)

ALTMAN for president.... !!
