Chefzillas tank build...

Yes I have a ro/di system. Running about 1-2 tds. I read that chloramines are not reduced unless you have a special membrane and or 2nd carbon block. But than again that's what I read. Can't trust everything ya read right?
 
I am now convinced that having random colonies die for no apparent reason in one's reef tank is normal.

Sometimes trying different things to try to 'fix' the problem will make it worse. If you're only have 1 or 2 things die on you, and everything else is fine and dandy, I would not make any drastic measures to try and fix it.

As long as you can confirm that your salt and water are good, increasing the frequency of water changes have almost always solved my tank woes. It is finding the time to do this has always caused me grief.

Your tank better not crash. I haven't even seen it yet!

I think it might be the cycle of life. But darn its not fun I know my salts "fresh" but might chamge salts to a more balanced salt. Or do a mix just to get the right added minerals to make it thrive again. Once I get it back on track I plan on having a meeting here at my house. But your more than welcome to come over anytime to see/raid it :-)
 
Just a lil update... Tanks doing alot better. Im dosing vodka at 6 mls a day along with dr tims waste every 2 weeks. I still have a algae issue in my frag tank i can seem to kick but the growth is slowing down. Heres a few pics taken within the past 2 weeks :-)

Yes I have a macro lens but these photos were taken with my cell phone :-) ill get out my camera today abd take a pic and post it so we can see if there's a difference.. and Steve, again ty for the skimmer. Hows everything in your tank doing? You have my best acans ;-)
 
No worries on the skimmer. Glad it is working out.

If I ever figure out how to frag stuff I can frag those acans and we can trade. I love the ones you have posted.

Most things bounced back. A few things like my strawberry shortcake and red planet are still browned out. I'm hoping they hurry up and color up lol
