Chefzillas tank build...

tank looks AHHH mazing! how do you know how far from the light to set your sticks? trial and error?

It was slowly acclimating them to the led. The light itself is about 7" from the water surface. And the closest piece is about 4" under the waters surface :-)

Really nice looking coral. How do you like the cyron? Been thinking of adding some to my upgrade led adventure.
Are you going to be trading some of these? ;)

Ok... New lights are up and running. Im running them with no lenses ATM cause theres too much spotlitghting for my taste. Im running it around 260 PAR at the highest coral and so far they seem to love it. These pics were just snapped with my cell after cleaning the glass... NOW i need to buy some more 2 part epoxy to get everything in its place and frag racks GONE!

Thanks for the input. Im battling hair algae issues. Close to having a tank crash. 1st my skimmer blows. The pump is dieing and dont have the funds for a new one. 2nd my ro/di was spitting out 13 tds water, 3rd was my gfo reactor was unplugged, 4th i was feeding WAYYY too much!!
I did a fluke tab treatment on my tank to rid my tank of the UGLY red clove polyps. Worked GREAT. I have taken out 90% of my CUC and macro algaes out and put them in a spare tank, As well as my clams and leathers. Soo they are just chilling outside enjoying the filtered sunlight. I turned my skimmer on on friday and is actually pulling gunk. Put the gfo and carbon back online. And tomorrow im doing a 30 gallon water change than another 20 on thursday than i can put everything back in and shouldnt have to worry (crossing fingers) Soo once im done cleaning the tank and making it tip top again ill post some new pics :-)

Can you give some details of how to know if your tank is going to crash?

By looking at it and paying close attention. Looking to see the colors fading, No polyp extension, Algae growth. If you see anything pertaining to this first thing i do is check my salinity (than check the calibration on your meter, and check it again), Than my TDS, Than my parameters (po3, calcium, nitrates, alk ect) Than i check my reactors and skimmer to make sure they are operating at optimum levels.
Soo my skimmer isnt working great, My GFO reactor was offline(unplugged) and TDS was "higher" than i like. Luckily i caught it. I will from now on be doing weekly water changes in the 15 gallon range. Unfortunately my refractometer just broke the lil acrylic flap soo im going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new one.

I bought my refractometer online. Think I got it for around $25; it's a National Industrial supply brand.
Glad you saved your tank, but sorry about the problems... You know, you could always send those clove polyps my way ;)
