wish i called in today. my usual 15 min drive end up to be an hour. sucks...but hey someone needs to take care of your money right?

I can't believe what wimps every one turns into when we get a little snow. Doesn't any one remember in the 70's when we got much more snow than this? No one whined and cried about it then. What is so different now? As a matter of fact, the cars made today handle better in the snow than their rear wheel drive counterparts of the past. We now have anti-lock brakes that give a little assistance when braking.

All you have to do is be a bit more careful and aware of your surroundings. Seems to me that the whole world is losing its mind and looking for any way to get out of their responsibilities.

OK, I am done ranting now. Have a nice day.

It is most admirable that a young person is aware of these things and takes them into account. My son (almost 16) still thinks he is pretty invincible.Kudos to you T!

I have seen a few of the big ole snow storms.. This one has the potential to get there. Atleast out here in the cornfields where we are getting dumped on and the wind is blowing it all over.. When I came out at 7:30 this morning, the plows were unable to keep up, and I would guess that there was 10"+ on the roads. Add the poor visibility... If I didnt have a 4x4, I wouldnt have made it.

I was born in 77' , so I wouldn't know. Glad my day off falls on a Friday. Imagine if Black Friday was this kind of weather? Would everyone still be out in line shopping anf driving to their destination. Happy Friday all!

I also believe that people in the 70's drove much more like humans rather than insane freaks. Even in good weather, people now drive much more aggressively than they did back then. Bad weather and they are 10 times worse because they are being slowed down by everyone else.

Okay, so we all knew this was coming! And, most of us choose to live in this area..... So, What's the big deal! :p

We just got a new puppy this fall and she is seeing snow for the first time. As you can see, she loves it!

Not all of us hate the winter and the snow!

Ahh it's not so bad, feels a whole lot more "normal" than 65 degrees in the last half of November that's for sure! My 45 minute commute from Lombard to Chicago took 5 more minutes than it normally does. You can say what ever you want about Mayor Daley, one thing he knows how to do is keep the streets clean!

What a difference just a few miles makes. We've only got maybe an inch of snow on the ground down in the south suburbs. I love snow and was bummed to find NOTHING on the ground when I got up at about 6am this morning.

But it's still fun to watch the media go overboard covering the weather!

The last 10' of my driveway is 8" of wet nasty snow that chokes my snowblower. The entire top of my driveway is 3-4"of light powder. Talk about localized conditions.

Boyd, Make sure to comb out that pup good while drying, or you're gona wind up w/one matted mess! Maybe spray w/a lil diluted cream rinse. 10-1

Puffer, I can tell you are a groomer! What about a hot oil treatment for what appears to be frizz ends?
Mhurley, I had the same thing, I had to tilt the blower backwards to skim off the top 4" of powder, and then go back over the slush, it was like a slurpee machine coming out the top of my blower (when it wasn't clogged!) I-88 was clear as a bell, only a little wet this morning. Looking out my window I thought the day was a complete Snow-Day, but as soon as I left the neighborhood and got onto the major roads, I felt kinda silly for thinking everyone would be staying home. It wasn't really that bad at all, and 90% of people went to work, except for those who are the typical over-reactors looking for excuses to stay home.

Thank's for the compliment, I also jsut went out and snowblowed a few of my neighbors driveways, made 70 bucks. This pays for the zoo's I bought yesterday

Although it don't seem like the jobs getting easier with all those little turn around planters in the middle of the side street intersections and all those stupid speed bumps all over the place. Ever think of lowering the 30mph speed limit on side streets instead? OK I'm done whining , took the day off...happy Friday:) 3 day weekend...Back to fish poop siphoning:)
