The OG mad scientist
well new years brought me a dead chiller/my tank its been in the dark for 24 hrs and hopefully only another 14 until i can get my hands on another unit and solve this issue tomorow. I'm worried about my sps but certaily at this oint there's nothing i can do so wish me luck
This hobbu has a way of makin u quit LOL. But will carry on and hopefully the disaster is only minimal in terms of loses.:mad2:

Turn the light back on and place a large house fan blowing your sump or the water surface in the tank, I have done that in the past and has work fine until chiller is up again

I wish you good luck, friend. I'm starting to worry about my chiller, because now that I'm running 940w over my tank (2x250w + 4x110w) my chiller is going on about 5 times a day, and it's not even that hot out yet. Before I put the VHOs in, it would only go on twice a day or 3 times, and for shorter intervals. I'm wondering if the recently recharged coolant is running out.

Either way, hope your tank is fine. If things get desperate, there are always a few other reefers who would be willing to take refugees from your tank. I would.

Good luck,

Eric

I agree. At least try to run the lights for a few hours a day.

All d fans r going and the temp is steady at 83 which is 5 degrees more than the usual. Hopefully by the end of the day I'll have a chiller back up providing i can escape form work LOL

Finally today got my hands on a chiller while i sent my other for repairs, minimal consequences in terms of loses. ANyways how do u guys cool your systems and where. In my case my chiller is plummed inline outside the house and perhaps after 8 months some rain might have caused the problem. Its a currents 1/3 hp. Even though its under some overhang perhaps i will be needing to create some sort of cover for it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have my chiller inside a covered and vented Rubbermaid shed, it also houses my pumps, calcium reactor and kalk reactor and ph controller.
So far it has worked just fine
