So is anyone else from the burbs doing this near Streamwood? Only needing 12 LEDs and maybe lenses just to have, the cost isn't there to justify the trip to pick up such a small qty myself at the current cost of gas. If someone near me is doing this for a large tank, could you please add 7 LEDs of each (so I have a spare of each color) and 12 lenses to your order? I'll get you the money when it's time to pay and pick em up at your convenience once you get the order.
Abel are you going to try the home depot c-channel? i just looked it up on the website and a 3/4" wide 8 foot section is only 11 dollars, is this one too flimsy?
im gonna email for a quote tomorrow night, so if you want some leds or want to change your order pm me. Mai used 3/4" c channel and it worked out for him so im gonna try it too if nothing is better for the price.
i dont think we will find a cheaper price on c-channel, i want to give this a try before i take a full on plunge. Hopefully my house offer goes thru and i can then start planning my 6 foot tank and a huge led build. i will probably buy my c-channel tomorrow and ill see where to get the driver i want. thanks for putting this together
sure, i was going to buy a bunch of those and attach them somehow to each other the whole width of my tank and the bow area. maybe ill use that heat sink epoxy or i got a buddy with a tig welder maybe i could use that.
tig welder sounds cool, wish i knew how to use one. Im barely able to weld normal steel and i would never trust myself to build something load bearing.
i dont think there will be much weight to it im mounting my drivers somewhere else not on top of the light. I dont know why people mount their drivers on their heat sink, wouldnt that add unnecessary heat and weight and not look as nice.

Skunkmere, people put the drivers on the top because it's open air, so it's make both fixture and drivers more cool. If you put some where else, they need a cooler place or a fan. The driver is get hot in the summer. Make them cool so they will get more life.
