chinese led lights

Was wondering how many d120 would be needed for 125 standard. Sam's page says 4, but that sounds like it may be to much. My tank is marineland and has only one center brace, so 3 might be a problem. Anyone have these on a 6 foot tank that could comment.

I contacted Simon and put together a link for myself last night. Just ordered it today. Moonlights + LCD controller + 0-10v dimming drivers to mod for an Apex is too good of a deal to pass up for me for $255. Here is my link.

There is also a $5 off coupon for Aliexpress. (code is: 15noorder20120614)

Is this the same setup that I was looking at? Does it have white, blue, and red led's? Not all the pictures showed up in the link and I wanted to make sure they were both the same. Do you see any benefit to add the extra dimmer for moonlights if I am not going to hook this up to a reef controller. Is there a way to master/slave two of these units together?

Yes, but I customized it. blue460nm:white14000k:red630nm:green515nm:orange610nm:violet400nm=
34:15:1:2:2:1 with 60 degree optics.

What type of tank are you lighting with this? I am going to have a 75g mixed reef and want to make sure that this combo will work for that. What do you think about adding the third dimmer for moonlights, is it necessary? Also, what is the difference between 60,90,120 degree optics? Sorry for all the questions but I am new at this.

Ok new revision (Do you think I should add more white based on ihigh's post)?

Do you think there is too much violet? I took out two of the reds and added two more violet. Also think I am sticking with the 630nm which is more yellow and I know 660nm would add more pop but does nothing for coral and red gets filtered out first anyways.

What do you guys/gals think?

Who are you ordering this schematic from cmantis? Also, would you please post your direct link setup like others have done after you settle/finalize it?

1. cmantis I am currently looking at the one you have designed or one of the below links for my 46 gal bowfront. Would like some feedback on it from others though, like you mentioned please.

or

34 gallon mixed nano. The higher number you go in optics = more spread/less penetration. 120 means no optics.

You typically want blues on one channel, and whites on the other, so you can dim the colors separately to achieve the look you want. If you get moonlights, you would want them on a seperate channel too, so that would be 3 channels.

I can tell you the moonlight ( if not on a seperate controlled dimmer ) will be more then you like . My moonlights ( 2-55w ) are on the same dimmer as the Blues..But when you turn the blues all the way down & click them off , the moonlights ( 2-55w ) stay on full blast...:twitch:.and its pretty darn bright. So I don't run them all night . I have them on a seperate timer to shut off around midnight.

Corey. I would guess that it will be slightly more blue than 14-16k.
Bhazard can chime in. He knows better than I do

Someone has one from here. They are basically the same as the Nova units mentioned here, except that the Nova is dimmable, and the Apollo is not.

I had one. Super bright. At 40"+ I was getting 250-300 par on the sand. Had to return it. Just ordered adimmable Nova a4

Thanks. I'll send Lyn an email to get quote on yours + moonlights.

bhazard451, did you specify the placement of the colors? If you could PM me the specs you set with Simon, I would appreciate it. I want to make sure that Lyn gets me the same one. He gave me a quote, but it does not mention the different colors?

If you want the same light, just order from my link.

They'll place the leds just fine. Ratio is 34:15:1:2:2:1 as listed.

Keep in mind, this won't be my primary light. I'm still building that one.

This is what my Cree/Luxeon Nova A4 looks like so far.

Quality was good. I had them on an 18" cube. Hax great coverage. I think they would be good on a 24". I had them 22" above an 18" tank. You cant customize Colors. Cor wasnt bad though. Very white not yellow.
