chinese led lights

I would really like to see the results off this product. I'm looking to upgrade to leds and these really fit my budget. I run a 6 bulb t5 now and bulb replacement is killing me. So if there is leds that are priced around this that are better I would love to see them.

Take the gamble then it your money and you coral. There is a reason why people wont use these on there sps tanks, there's about 3 company's that make an led system that actually works with sps and even those are skeptical.

I have these lights...here are the specs:

"120w LED Fixture. 55-3w Epistar led's. Each 3w led is driven at 650mA and pushes 2w per led. 7200 lumens with all lights on. 110w of led and 10w of fans. Fans are on top and are upgraded to ensure they are quiet. Led's are independent circuits so if 1 goes out, the rest stay on. 19 blue, 19 royal blue, 9 10k and the last 8 are 6500k. 3yr warranty and serviced in the USA.'

Notice the 3yr warranty? This guy stands behind these lights. They are very bright as far as I can tell.

Ok I want to see some pics of these tanks running china leds. Some of you are saying great growth and color but I see no pics to show it.

The problem people are having with those China made led kits is not that there cheap, its that they are not producing the right spectrum needed to grow sps. I know about 3 people who bought a kit just like the one your looking at and all there sps turned brown and things looked horrible.

So may I ask what sepctrum do you think is great for SPS growing? we all know most companies sell the led aquarium light at 50% 455nm blue and 50% 12000K white. is there something wrong with that? for CREE xpg leds, the max color temperature is 9000K, there is still no more than 9000K for CREE leds, and for Bridgelux leds, people could choose 12000K, 14000K, even 20000K cool white. So what spectrum configuration do you think is great for corals?

The CREE LEDs are made in China, so I would not let that stop me. The AIs are much better than much more expensive fixtures made years ago, so you don't always get what you pay for.

A few considerations:
1) If these are cheaper, and no one else is using them, you are taking a risk.

2) LEDs can be driven at various levels, but the higher the wattage, the lower the efficiency. I believe the AIs are actually powered below spec. If I were you, I'd research the spec on these leds, and be sure they aren't over driven.

3) The LEDs in a 70 watt AI fixture cost about $80, overhead, profit, support, and the rest of the fixture make up the rest of the price. Maybe this company is making less profit or doing things more efficiently. My guess is there is a sacrifice somewhere, probably in build quality and support.

4) If you go this route, please post online so others learn from your experience.

I can't tell you for sure whats missing cause I don't know. Infact the people I know who bought these don't know ether, there is just something missing from the spectrum with the china made led fixtures.

What is the asking price for these lights (200x3W LED Aquarium Light)?

Eddie

The leds you bought are different then the one this thread is about. The one you have are not made for sps at all and be very surprised if you have good success. The one in this thread look a lot better and built a little more like the ai sol.

You have such a nice litttle setup why did you go with those lights in the first place? You could have bought a nice ATI fixture and had a banging sps tank.

Socals, which lights exactly are u running, what size tank, what corals do you have, and how long have you been using it?

Stever, I appreciate what you are posting. Let us know what you end up going with and how you like it. I think alot of us would be interested in lower priced LED's that work.

I have china made leds "black boxes"

I have china made leds "black boxes"

Mine have been working just fine. My lps grow like they are on roids, and my sps do just as well as when I had halides. I have had this system up for over a year. I do 12 hours just blue light and 4 to 6 hours with white and blue. I have my lights set up 60% blue and 40% white. You can see them at hrrc.us go to showroom then noahlito 180 mix reef.

no heat sink = change in width of trnsistors when on = different spectrum as it heats up !

you do not want a floating spectrum.

just cause its from china it doesnt make it bad, all LEDs are made in china ! controllers have their own cost, and are NEEDED with LED fixtures IMHO.

the only thing i would add is to look for one that has optic lenses to limit the spread of light. i have one and the spread is too wide for a 28 gallon tank.too much over wash of light, would like it more directed down into the tank.

See, this is what I don't like. You're implying that he can't have a nice tank with those fixtures, while you have no specific experience with these units. You may be right in the end, but the point is, you're just speculating.

I've bought plenty of "cheap Chinese" products over the years, some of them were crap and some were not. Of course, I've bought several "quality American" products that were crap too.

I do have experience with cheap leds. Did you read the whole thread? I know about 3 friends who had these on there sps tanks and the coral all turned brown. This is nit the first thread about China leds, people have been trying to find cheaper alternatives to less but all the ones I have heard about so far have Been bad.
