only on/off of each for me, but if you buy the sunrise/sunset controller you can adjust intensity of both. the controller was a bit pricey even for a direct from china purchase. if the colors and growth(hopefully) arent good for me after some height adjustments then maybe ill add the controller later.

RDHDDRAGON, thanks for sharing pictures and experiences. Your link to growth pics are worth a thousand words. If there's one thing I really don't like about forums and the internet, it's the propensity for some people to bash and discredit things based on absolutely ZERO experience with particular product in question.

No problem, I completely understand no info/pictures. It drives me crazy!

Stever- Don't forget to take some photos before you install them so you can watch what happens! (And show us!)

The latest version of the "œChinese" LED lights now come with 3W LEDs running at 2 watts. The difference between these lights and the higher priced lights (where many of those also come from China), is that these have no heat sinks and are not "œcontrollable." Otherwise these produce enough light to grow everything. We have a LFS that exclusively uses these lights and his display tanks and frag tanks look fantastic, and the corals grow just fine.

HERE's an example of the newer version

Not to get too off topic, but Acura is not only in the US. Nor is it simply a rebadged Honda. Honda is the parent company as Toyota is the Lexus parent company just as VAG (Volkswagon Audi Group) is the parent of Porche. While many of the parts are the same, drivetrains and engineering (as in aspiration ratios ect) are completely different. While they may look like the same cars, they do not perform the same. The difference is not as simple as esthetics, and I believe the analogy may have some credence as it applies.

No acura is not the same as VW is to audi. Acura is olny in north america sorry. The olny car acually made for the acura line-up is the the new TL. The rest are honda rebaged as acuras for the us market. here are some examples

acura rl? also know as the honda inspire to the rest of the world

Acura TSX?? AKA honda accord to the rest...

Acura TL? or hondda inspire

All these cars are sold as hondas and have the same luxury item the us models have but with an acura emblem.

Stever, can you link the exact fixture you mentioned that you purchased? And can you link the controller you specified as well? I think I am going to pull the trigger just as you did, I like the way you think and I'm a gambling man.

@ gmate , I can try to give you a link when I get home. I tried to post the PDF file of prices and details but it's too big a file. There is no site that has this lights specs exactly, I received the pdf files from a sales rep. I can email them to you if you send me a private message with your email address.

Hondas are great cars, love them. I am mechanic and feel they are well built, reliable and low cost of ownership. I have a 98 Civic Hx with 198xxx miles on it with DOHC Vtec motor swap, everything in the suspension is original but the springs and struts and it drives great. Fast little car as well.

@ Chimone - looks to me like the Apollo series are grow lamps with red and blue leds. will probably work great for your herb garden, not so much for your reef though i think.

The lights have arrived. I will be opening the box tonight at 9:25 when I get home. I'll post some pics for everyone later tonight.

Stever do they make something I can suplement my t5s with. I dont need what you got i dont think. But if you could send me a price and size that be awesome.

Dragon,

It appears there are 2 cords on the light assemblies, one for blue and one for white I assume? Also are they simply on/off with a switch on the box? How about coraline growth, I don't notice any in the 220. Some folks don't like it but I think it's part of a thriving reef.

Thanks, your tank looks great and a reason I'm reconsidering leds.

Mine has been running for 6-7 months now on the cheap China leds. Mine are only 1w bulbs. The only thing that I have problems with are red corals (ie. red planets, rep caps, etc). They always turn pink or pastel looking. Only my setosa is actually maintaining it's darker red shade. Other than that, everything is growing like normal. Blue and purple sps got more intense and deeper looking than when they were on halides.

I didn't have a lot of expectation when I bought the light. It was more of an experiment and it turned out to work pretty well. My temperature doesn't jump like how it did with halides, which is a plus.

Thanks for the compliment!

Yes two cords, one white one blue so you can control them seperately. There are two switches on top, one for each color.

I do have coraline growth, but not alot. I have a longspine urchin and two unknown urchins that are constantly eating it. It is hard to see in that pic but i do have some. I'd say it covers 1/3 to 1/2 the rock maybe?
