chinese led lights

How is the light spillage around the tank with it hung that high? That is one thing I'm trying to avoid if at all possible b/c I also won't have a canopy. I'm looking to setup a 36"x18" tank as well.

Right now they are 18" off the water and spillage is bad! But they are more intense than t5s, so they are high and on a shorter cycle so corals don't bleach. As time goes on they get lowered and light cycle extended. With any lighting change to have to acclimate your corals to your lights. When it's all said and done they will be 10" off the water and at that height it's less spillage than I had with the t5s at 5" off the water.

Even with them so high right now the wifey says she can sit on the sofa and watch tv, and not be blinded by the spillage. Where with the t5s it was nag, nag, your lights, nag or something like that.

I just put http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aquarium-Co...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item68c94c7950 over my 40 breeder, it replaced a NEP 6x39w t5 fixture. The one i got has 30B 25W and is a nice clean 14-15k look. Right now i have it 8" off the surface of the water and i'm getting good spread to the edges. However if i try to bring it up more i get too much spillage and the g/f complains.
It's been on the tank for 3 days now and all the corals look just as good as before but with a teeny bit more polyp extension, especially at night.
I guess time will tell if the SPS continues to grow, then this is deff my LED fixture of choice.

In the future i'm planning on putting in 2 red, green, and uv led's to help with the color. Or maybe even just add some Ecoxotic stunner strips.

for the price that evo fixture looks like a no go, i would get 3 of these $160 ones efore i dropped $500 on a fixture that uses 2w LED's.

Heres my pics of the 120w running 30 blue and 25 white LED's.

Yea i agree with kotu, that fixture looks like something you could get from eshine for half the price and it would have CREE leds.

Kotu, that light looks sick. I can't believe how well it lights up the tank. How high is it off the water about 6 inches? NVM i just saw your previous post had the answer of 8".

Thanks, I actually just measured it again, the light is 5" off the top of the tank, another .5" to the water surface.
The spread on this thing amazes me, can't wait to get 2 more for my 125g.

Ok, keep us posted with growth, coral conditions, etc. I'm looking to setup up a 57G rimless or something along those lines with the same dimensions as a 40B just deeper and would love to know what happens and how your livestock responds.

I know its only been a few days running the LED's but i swear all my sps have more color now than they did last week. Also have not seen any sign of burning corals.
The lps on the sandbed looks the same regarding polyp extension and feeders coming out.
My red goni i got last week is opening up, and i'm seeing more colors coming in on a couple acans. My zoas are definitely more colorfu as well.

I had 2 chalice frags where the eggcrate is in the last pic, even being off to the side and on the sandbed it seemed like they were getting too much light, had to put them in the shade. I honestly wouldnt be suprised if this would support a clam on the bed.

I was wondering how the 150x3w E.Shine Systems Aqua Panel fixture would be for my 120 mixed tank. I mostly keep LPS but have a few SPS. I was thinking 2 of these fixtures to replace my 2x250w+t5ho fixture.

Is two of these fixtures too much or just right?

Also.. How do I actually order them if I wanted them? I'm use to seeing a "click here" to order button! I'm lost without one :)

I got 2 of the 120watts lamps ordered directly from China. I haven't run them yet cause I have had difficulties hanging them on the ceiling, so I may have to hang them on a diy frame. I will just start to add corals (currently just have zoas, sun coral and kenya tree), so I may not be able to say if these lamps will work on sps.

I was between the ones I got and the Cree 60 (from Kontak - same as E.Shine but a bit cheaper and good communication), but I had seen the 1w version working just with the whites on my Cousin's Planted aquarium (which has high light demanding plants that never growth under t5 and now are growing like mad).

I hope to get good results (I am planning softies and easy lps) and anyway the price for me was better than getting a new T5 6x54 fixture with bulbs.

jucario, thats exactly what is my deliema now.I was all set to go with T5's.But doing some more research,I can go with LED's for about the same price.I'm just confused what to go with, theres so many options. Now that I think about it,I should of just got a Falcon....

Only issue is with buying equipment from company's that have no real face or corp structure is not really sure what you are getting inside each time. I have purchased from company's like that before and find getting warranty work is hard and most want you to ship back to Asia for close to near what the whole unit cost to start with. I see arguments like this all the time on heli forums about people buying hobbywing etc. they are clearly clones and some work great while others fail severely. At least lights just do death smoke, when a heli esc goes its blowing while under 75+ amps and pulling close to 3500 watts sometimes lol that's a site let me tell ya. But no really get what you feel fits your budget best and works for you. Most people will hate on anything not name brand.

Keep the testamonials comming! I think alot of people are interested in going LED, but the cost is prohibitive, especially for larger tanks. I took a risk with the Aquatraders MH fixture, saved tons of money and it has worked well for a while, but now parts are hard to get and things are failing, I paid a third of the price for a name brand fixture and got alot of use from it. I'm looking to do the same with LEDS. I noticed that the Chinese stuff gets better with time, yet remains pretty affordable with each iteration. Its through those of us that take the risk, try the product and share our experiences that lead to others doing the same and ultimately improving the output for everyone.

If you have purchased any of these please let us know the good and the bad what you bought from who, and if possible what you paid. this will help us determine which ones are worth taking the chances on.

Thanks in advance!

I went to eshinesystems website and I think iw ill end up getting the cree 60 watt fixture, but can someone post a link to cheapest they've found it for?

I've been considering AI SOL and radions, but for my 92 corner... cost vs effectiveness, it seems the eshine systems 60 watt is the way for me to go with 2 or 3 of their units. I dont really need all the bells n whistles. Is a thunderstorm or cloud mode nice? absolutely... necessary? probably not...
