im not sure you are reading the same posts as i am. Is disagreeing in itself being combative? or is it just the witty replies that constitute combativeness. and 99% of all the products. Did you get that figure from the american manufacturing initiative or from your union buddy? You seem to miss the point. i asked for opinions from people with "experience" this does not necessarily include everyone who read a post on a forum somewhere. we have here a five page thread with helpful remarks on led systems from what percentage of the people? your the stat guy so ill ask you to fill in the number.(that's combative by the way, sorry) What i know for sure is that the lights that i purchased from Eshine systems are very well built. They cost a fraction of other systems out there and they seem to make my tank and myself very happy. Aside from all the ney sayers out there who talk about bad experiences that are not even first hand experiences or have just heard about bad performances of some no name systems from some "dude" they heard about, i say keep it to yourself until you take a chance and try something new or do some serious research and participate in a helpful way.
 
I'm glad that the people with experience with the lower cost LEDs have chimed in with pics. I've Ben thinking about going LEDs for sometime now, and with the lower cost LEDs I was apprehensive. After seeing the results in pic I'm sold I ordered a 120w led fixture from aquariumleds. I would have to agree that the one who's " buddy" had a bad experience needs to have his "buddy" post pics, and keep his negative comments to himself. Thanks again to those who showed pics of the tanks with these lower cost LEDs.
 
I'm so freakin confused.I was going to go with T5's but after looking around,I can go with LED's for the same price or cheaper.eshine looks like they use 3 watt cree or bridgelux.Aquariumled uses bridgelux 1w,2w or 3w depending on the fixture.Then there's AI,radion,orphek,JBJ unibody,thats why i'm confused.Lets not even get into optics...lol.Let me just ask this.What would you recomend for a 39 gallon 24" wide and 20" deep tank.I like the JBJ unibody and the eshine aquamaster or one on ebay w 3w bridgelux with 90 degree optics/3 year warranty.High PAR 718 at 12"water depth 16" from lamp. 678PAR at 24" depth 28" from fixture.

Just so you know I have some faith in the LEDS you bought since there using the 3 watt crees vs the cheap 1 watt like the other fixtures out there. Most the people coming on this thread are confused with the fixture you bought and the 120 watt fixtures. The fixture stever bought might actually be the lucky ticket to LEDS at a lower cost.
 
I don't really get it. Led's are mostly made in china or japan. They are put together and sent to US and renamed, then sold. Yes, color spectrum is a concern, but if you check and ask questions, you will know what your getting, or not buying.
 
I am thinking of getting the $160 LED.
My tank is 8' long. Can someone with experience on these LEDs suggest how many will I need?

I was trying to save money by buying LED lights from a grow store. I know, I know... I can hear the chuckles now... The owner of the grow store also worked at a LFS store that I frequented. The light maker (straight from China) that was making the owners lights for his "plant" customers also apparently made aquarium lights too. Well the owner convinced me to buy 2 of them for $600 and it was the worst mistake I have ever made... for my tank at least :) ... I wasn't as concerned about the loss of 6 bones as I was the damage it did to my tank. I had a severe algae bloom, corals that LOVE intense light were bleaching out and I really learned my lesson. DO NOT GET CHEAP LIGHTS is all I have to say. It may work for some and not every case is the same so please don't blow me up with posts about how you made your own lights or you purchased cheaper lights as well and it's been bunny rabbits and flowers for you because it's a case by case scenario. But I have talked to a lot of people that made the same mistake or similar, that regret every bit of it. Save up and spend the money to get sufficient lights that are actually from an aquarium specialty source is my advice.
 
I have been using a 55 3 watt ebay fixture for a couple months now. Works great. From skimming thus thread I have seen a ton of empty opinions, meaning people who have no clue what they are talking about mixed with people whom have never even see the pendants in question in person. Don't be swayed by people that have never even touched the light. Even the ebay fixtures have a return policy buy it and if you don't like it return it. The most you will be out is 25 for shipping.

The $160 led pendant that runs 3 watt bridglux less is good I have it on my tank and enjoy the 14k color it is putting out.

well i've been doing some more looking and reading.It seems the older 1w ebay LED's are the ones giving people fits.The newer 3w fixtures seem to be working out better.Thats just what i've noticed

was considering these as they have cree leds and a 3 yr warranty, just wish it had moonlights but not a huge deal i guess....I would like to hear if anyone has picked any of these up. I have a lot of other hobbies where the chinese have made cheaper products and have done real well and saved me a lot of money, so Im hoping for more good products from china at cheaper prices.

globe,i'm looking at these also.I'll give a call and see if I can get any more info or pics.You can't beat a 3 year warranty
 
Hi all,

I just thought I would chime in here. I know someone that has purchased the last generation eshine lights and has had them in his tank for over a year. He has definitely had success growing SPS in his tank (including acros), in fact that is how I met him. I got some good sized SPS frags from him. The eshine lights can be bought with the exact same LEDs as the aquailluminations, which have seen good success in growing SPS. The big difference will then be the optics. But these seem to be fine too. He has been really happy with the eshine lights, and is going to buy more. I'm going to be upgrading to a 150 gallon tank, at which point I'm going to go with the eshine lights.
 
I'm so glad I found this thread! I just went searching and on alibaba they have the new eshine fixtures for sale and for pre order. The new systems are all Cree updated LEDs and are dimmable manually with separate dimmers for white and blues . Has cooling fans heat sinks hanging kit. The 120w unit was only $199 . Insane . Half price of similiar fixtures. Waiting for email back on better price and shipping.

to everyone else I found www.aquariumledlighting.com and they have a 120 and 240w lighting; they have 1 2 and 3w leds in the 120w fixture;
My tank is a 230 gallon reef, that is 25" high; which lights should I look at getting? The 3w 120w ights or the 240w light
