Chinese LED Lights

Has anyone received the replacement part for the evergrow clock issue? I got the part from them but one of the connector on the top left corner goes from 3 pin to 4 pin. The orientation also reversed. Does anyone know how to connect this?

thank you.

here is the pictures of the two boards.

Any one know which blue is best to use for moon lights? I know it was mentioned in this thread before I believe but I don't remember where

bhazard, hope your life is getting back to some kind of normal after Sandy, don't know how you find the time for answering all questions thrown your way! You do not except PM's and I can see why your a very popular Reefer so hence this message to you. Seems you have built many DIY Led systems and I would like to pick your brain about buying a discarded project, kit or complete. I realize you may not be in a position to do this but have to ask anyway. Would rather buy a custom DIY set up now than to buy a over the counter unit and be unhappy. Interested in talking or corresponding about this shoot me an E-Mail at lonr@genext.net Thanks, Lon

Did you try using the other ports on the bottom?
You meant the bottom left one? No, its also 4 pins. The other two on the rights are connected to the power supply. This 3pins are coming out from a black box that look like a relay but its covered.

I was lucky. I only lost 1 piece, but the rest of the fish and coral survived a 3 day outage. Some people are still without power. Still a gas crunch, but not too bad in my area.

It's not that I don't take PMs, reef central put me on a probation period for mentioning banned site names multiple times. I wont be able to pm for months.

If you can build your own, go DIY. If not, these lights are the best option if you want your own custom layout of leds.

I put the IT2040 over one side of my 120 gallon tank I just started as a temp light, and 2-3 of them could EASILY light the tank and grow SPS. I want absolute total control though, so it will eventually be a DIY fixture with 6 channels of colors.

Yes, I found it :) thank you.
I think two 24 in would work well on my 125g tank. I emailed reef breeders about tehm so waiting for details.

I was looking for 24in light for awhile and found this one:

12x Cool White LEDs run at 3W each
12x Blue LEDs run at 3W each
6 x Royal LEDs run at 3W each
12 x Warm white LEDs run at 3W each
2x Red LEDs run at 3W each
2x UV LEDs run at 3W each
2x Green LEDs run at 3W each

Glisten R2 supply suitable environment marine tank & fresh
tank, With the Sunrise , Sunset, moonlight and thunderstorm
etc. Effect 3 times more than other coral light.

Use the newest and popular technology DMX & PMW
control way. 4 channels, each channel can dimmer &

Multiple-Join technology, Let your coral tank grow
light in automatic condition

These lights look good and not too expensive. Was wondering if 1 unit would suffice on my 46g bowfront? The unit says 24inches and my tank is 36inches long.

I noticed something today when swapping some leds on my d120. I just got green and figure I would try it on the white channel.

So far I have Dimmer 1 -12-10-12k whites
4 6-8 k whites
8 - blue
2 - red
2 - green

Dimmer 2 21 - blue
4 - violet
2 - UV
Looking for a nice spectrum in the tank with mostly my LPS's. I figure I have about a 14k look with a bit more blue.

I put green and UV in today and while doing that I notice that my violets were burned. 3 out of the 4 violet leds had a burn spot on the optic lens. Although they still worked it appeared to be not bright or the light was diffused due to the burn spot. What would cause this to happen? Bad led's? Too much power? I replaced 2 of the 3 that had spots on the optics but the 4th one was clear. I run the white channel at 40% and the blue at 60% now and may adjust with the additional new colors.

The 400nm chinese leds are prone to burning like that.

I'm noticing the same thing with my D120 units from evergrow i beleive they use bridgelux...
Are they still ok to use in that condition or do they need to be changed out all the time? Or... should i replace a few whites (or blues) with additional violets to make up for the burnt ones?

On the IT2040. I changed the out puts in the custom mode to meet my sunrise to sun set effect. After each change I hit the save button but last night we had a power outage. Now all the settings went back to the factory settings. Is there a way to keep your settings?

Anyone?

I want to change out a few LEDs but I've never attempted it before. Do I just need a soldering iron? And if so, is there a spacific type?
Do you have 90 degree optics? Do you get the spotlight effect with the greens and reds?

If you can solder you will be fine. The D120 is a circuit board that is pretty easy to remove and replace leds. Just make sure you use 3watt leds. Just hold the tip of the solder on one tab of the led you want to remove while holding the led itself with tweezers or needle nos pliers. When the solder is hot enough it will release on one side and just repeat on the other. When installing, place the led over the tabs where the original was soldered. Make sure you keep the polarities correct - positive terminal and negative terminal with the led you installing and touch the tab on the led with the solder on the circuit board, repeat other side and that is it.

As for spotting, no never had that occurred with the leds I replaced. All my leds are bridgelux 3watt with 90 degree optics. If there is any other led I could use such as a cree I would like to go that route but I doubt it would work properly.

I plan on adding more green but on the blue channel only, I want to see how it will look along with the violet, uv and blue.

That is is beauty of the D120 is the ability to change out leds with ease. Simple unit that you can basically customize yourself no matter what. If something burns out, it is easily replaced. The only downfall is there is no heat sinks which may be why the violet leds get spotting. I not sure on this but it could be that the violet gives off more heat causing them to burn. One thing is that the fans work great but do drawn in dust from time to time and they should be cleaned periodically.

Which channel should the reds greens and violets go on? It seems alot of companies put them on the white but I personally would think they should go on with the blue channel .... your blues are on more and when just the blues are on your not getting the extra color out of your coral if your reds greens and violets are on the the white channel I would think...

What's everyone's thoughts on that?
