Chinese LED Lights

I have been following this and the first thread for a while. I think I am going to pull the trigger on 2 of these.

I am lighting a 4 foot 65 gallon (48x18x16) to grow sps. Is this a good spectrum combination I like 16k to 18k look. I currently have a 100w evolution 14k over a 30 gallon but want to go more blue but not all the way to 20k. I assume this light is similar to all the other leds people have been talking about. Any thoughts or advice is welcome.

There really is no best. Its all down to personal preference.
Just use some violets, reds, and maybe a green or two added in, like in that picture, and the fixture will look great.

Does anyone have a link to a customizable d120 or similar with moonlights? Can't really swing the extra cash for the new ITs.

I am feeling really good about this layout. Want something warm, that will bring out the coral colors too. Hope she can still change it for me.

If they cant change it, just ask for spare leds. It is very easy to remove the leds and solder in the new ones. It is literally as simple as touching the solder with the iron and pushing/pulling the led a little to remove. You just line up the new led in place and touch the leg/original solder point, make sure the connection is sturdy, and you're done.
I really like the ability to do this, as if you aren't 100% happy with the layout, you can change it until you get the exact look you want. I took the chance on the layout I tried, liked it but knew I could do better, and did something about it

I've been following this thread for some time. Really glad that it's up a running! I'm ordering two D120'S DIY for my reef tank, it's 30" deep. I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinion on my Led color placement. My tank is 90% SPS. I am planning on going with 90' optics. But have been going back and forth on LED placement. I'm trying to avoid a washed out look, but don't want to see to much yellow or violet. Thanks everyone for all the good info. on this thread! This is my first LED light, I wouldn't have known some of the questions to ask without it.

Well Mark yours is fairly similar to what I ordered. I have have used 10000 vs the 14000s in the white's a total 3 less, also 3 more 470 but 5 less 450, and I've added 3 red and 2 green to the mix to help hopefully pump up the colors.
(so in summary I have 3 less whites and 2 less blues subbing the R & G s)
So if you decide to add some reds and greens... take a look at my last (and final) layout just change maybe the 10000K to 14000K if that is what you want.

I highly recommend any layout to include reds and violets, as just warm white leds did not perk color up like a separate red led does. Green you don't really need, but that is subjective. I prefer Cyan which looks green visually anyway.

HEY HAZARD I BOUGHT 2 OF THESE LIGHTS OFF OF AN AMAZON PLACE, THAT WAS BEFORE THIS THREAD WAS EVEN STARTED. BUT MY ? IS AM I ABLE TO CONTACT SAM OR SUNNY AND ORDER SOME DIFFERENT COLOR LED'S OFF OF THEM. AND I AM JUST CURIOUS HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO JUST CHANGE THEM WITH OUT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT DIFFERENT mah(or whatever it is called) WITH DIFFERENT COLOR LED'S. I HAVE JUST THE BLUE AND WHITE BOXES AND I WANT TO TRY TO GET MORE OF A POP WITH WHAT I HAVE.

From the link I just posted... it shows the graph rising again at the 520 to 530 area... so I guess adding the greens couldn't hurt. The 490 Cyan is rather close to the 470s anyways.
From scuba diving, it is very easy to see the red disappear underwater. Have used flashlights on a sunny day to see the more true colors of corals. So the bottom argument on the link is valid but pointless. True, these corals normally do not see the color red, even though the chart shows a spike. BUT with red, they sure do look better and maybe they would like it.
SO agree... People put some red in there!

I'm going to adjust it to include red and cyan. What leds would you replace with these? and would you use the 660 red? I'm ordering from evergrow, do they have cyan? or close to it? ALso, I'm not sure about the 470nm. I've seen it used in a lot of layouts, what's the opinion on them?
Never having used MH lighting, I don't have first hand expeirence with color temp. But, I think I would like 16k-18k.

Good information, sounds like that if your adding 470, there is enough green in it on it's own and you don't need to add it seperate. So, 470 is more of a blue/green?
