Chinese LED Lights

Ok, read pretty much this entire thread (lengthy but AWESOME!) and have a quick question on the Evergrow IT series. When I look at the Alibaba website (not saying I am going to buy from China but just checking out options), I see several entries for what looks like the exact same light from the same distributor but the title varies. Layout, accessories, etc are exactly the same. Anyone know if there are true differences in these or are they just minute size variations of the same IT2080 Evergrow?

Thanks! GREAT THREAD!!

They are the same units although it seems they are b:w only and not full spectrum. You want the full spectrum layout though.

Thanks! I am really leaning towards getting them from ReefBreeders anyway. Would be worth the $$ to have it done right the first time and also have support.

1-3wks is a long wait IMO compared to Bubbas Guppies. Barrier Reef Aquariums has em too and they charge you an extra 20 for another yr warranty when the standard is 3 from the manufacturer.

Ok, I just looked at their site and it says 2 years. Where do you see 3? Thanks

Glad I could help....i'm planning on one right now.....I got a 180G Stand from a friend for free so instead of my build being a 40b DT and a 40B sump it's gonna end up being 2 40B DT's....a main and one for frag grow out with a really scratched up 75 I got free too for a sump/fuge....So in the long run i'll need two even after we get a house I can put a 180 on the stand. Apts suck.....lol. But my programmable 120W units are working ok for now....

So I have been reading as much as I could about possibly taking the plunge in to led lights. From what I gather Evergrow is a cheap fixture that is decent to try out. But how do I know I am getting the right fixture and not a knock off saying it is a Evergrow light?

My plan is to buy a few cheaper led fixtures to try out and see if they work well for me. I would be replacing my MH/t5 fixture which has 2 250w MH and 4 54w t5 bulbs. Lighting a 72g bow front tank, with mixed reef, geared more towards SPS.

A buddy of mine sent me this link and said they were what I should try

After looking around for more info and reading on here I see these.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Two-Units-E...131?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d0b33cd93

Which is the right lights to try? Which is better and why? Are they both really Evergrow lights?

I have never had led lights or even really considered them till now. I have always had MH, t5 or VHO lights in the past. So I truly don't have a clue about led lights and which lights I should go with. But I don't want to spend much because if I don't like them I will be putting my current MH fixture back on the tank and prefer not to lose too much money trying them out.

Thanks in advance for all the help you can give me:wavehand:

the second link you posted is sold by OR which is a sponsor on the other popular reefing site, you can ask directly and they have a good reputation and are worth a try.

but why get the older d120 lights? the d2040s are the same price and all fancied up and upgraded from evergrow. i got mine from ERC (exoticreefcreations) also a sponsor who works directly with evergrow. or you can go with the d120s and get reliably from any sponsor on the forums.

Those look like D120's. Evergrow has actually stopped producing those and went completely with the IT2040's instead from what I was told in another forum. Downside to those are the need for an on/off timer and don't have sunrise/sunset effects if thats what your looking for. But entry-level on/off they are good to start on.

they have stopped producing the d120s but they upgraded to the d2040 as a replacement not the it2040. so there is still a "value-minded" fixture and actually the same cost. now the d2040 comes in white or black, includes heatsinks, comes in the IT series case, and includes the it series adjustable hanging kit.
