chinese leds

I would like to change my order from the two D130 fixtures to two it2040s with 120 degree optics and the reef breeders layout. I am at work so I don't have a picture I can link but here is the link to the excel spreadsheet that they provide on the reef breeders website.

I can pay as soon as everyone is ready.

I might be interested in a D120. Does anyone have a picture of one?

I participated in the last group buy. Picked up two D120s. Here are a few pictures of what i went with.

Unfortunately my photobucket acct isnt working but i recently bought some chinese leds. I would love it if everyone would take a look.

Please google " step by step full spectrum diy led build"

They provide 420nm and 660nm which is a light wavelength that benefits coral growth.

Also helps bring out colors that the normal blue and white would not.

Go to google and search "nm spectrum coral" and select the first link that is a PDF. It was a good read for me :)

Would you make any changes if you were to order another? Or are you happy with whay you went with? The layout listed in the download a few posts up looks pretty sharp as well. Trying to make my final decisiion before paypal time!

^ - yes. I want to know as well. Are you happy with what you went with? Also have a question. I am thinking of placing one D120 over a 12 or 14 gallon tank. Would this be too much? I'm also considering switching out my T5 on my 46 bowfront for two of these D120 panels, but not sure if I need two or one?

Thanks!

Way to much light for 14 gal but u could set it up to only have 1 channel on? Since they r so cheep. I am using 1 over 40 needed. I would not recoment 2 over 46 bow. Maybe the A 6 FOR 46?

That would probably be too much light as well. I have two over my 156 and while I added two smaller fixtures in the middle to add additional coverage, the A6s are extremely bright - I'm only running them at about half power and am growing LPS, zoas and a clam on the sandbed.

Hey guys,

Looks like another group buy in progress. Im interested. When is the cut off date? Ive got my layout ready and Im waiting for some cash to come in this weekend and I should be ready to but. LMK. Thanks.

I have a D120 on low settings over the glass top of my Biocube 29g growing RBTA.

Does anyone know if the lenses can be removed. Im planning on having the whites with a 120deg angle and the blues on a 90deg angle.

Yes they can. Remove the lenses and it becomes 120d Optics on the LEDs check out the Reefbreeder vendor for more info.

I would just order it this way. Only way to remove lences is to open unit and that voids warrenty. Leds r 120 degree with no optics added so u would want 90 optices on blue nothing on the white

When I got my d120 in the last group buy I opted for the 120 lens it came with no lens as the lens themselves are 120, although I did get a bag of lens that came with my unit as well as a few extra leds. That said opening the unit does not void the warranty which was a question someone had during the last group buy. Hope that helps

Ok Been really busy. Lets try and get this ordered at the middle to end of next week. If u sent Paypal p,ease put ur RC username in notes with the unis u r buying please. Will help keep track of everyone. Maybe easier to call me for questions. If u want my cell number pm me.

Ok, Ive got a question about the use of lenes and if they are really needed. I have a 110 tall tank 30" high. I want to set up the d120 led fixture so that I can have any kind of corals / inverts / fish. I currently have a layout that Im thinking of using: (hopefully you can see it)

Blue shadow controlled by Dimmer One
Yellow shadow controlled by Dimmer Two

B1=460nm, B2=450nm, B3=440nm, V=420nm, UV=400nm, R1=630nm, R2=660nm, W1=3500k, W2=6500, W3=8500k, W4=10000k-14000k, W5=14000k-20000k

DIY Color Layout (55pcs 3W LEDs)
Dimmer One(30LEDs)=?B+?G+?R1+?R2+?UV+?V+?W1+?W2+?W3
Dimmer Two(25LEDs)=?B+?G+?R1+?R2+?UV+?V+?W1+?W2+?W3

Desired Layout:
D1 D2 D1 D2 D1 D2 D1 D2 D1 D2 D1
1 B1 W5 B2 W5 B1 W5 B1 W5 B2 W5 B1
2 B2 W5 B3 W5 B2 W5 B2 W5 B3 W5 B2
3 V B3 V B3 V B3 V B3 V B3 V
4 B2 W5 B3 W5 B2 W5 B2 W5 B3 W5 B2
5 B1 W5 B2 W5 B1 W5 B1 W5 B2 W5 B1

I was planning on leaving the whites at 120 deg, and putting 90 deg lenes on the blues and 60 deg lenes on the royal blues. Im not sure if this sounds right. I dont fulling understand what the par should be and what would be best for the corals and inverts. :headwally: If any one knows, please advise. Thank you. :D
