Choati Leopard Wrasse - Status

awesome ,again i missed them but i've been to busy to pat attention . im just getting online now . my choati came out today and ate which is a good sign . out of five boxes of fish that were at a 60 degree temp when they arrived 100% have survived . pretty cool for the lfs to get lucky with no doa s or 1st day deaths .

I am trying another pair (although in a different tank than my other one). I will keep you guys posted on how it goes with my existing one and the new pair. These are tough fish to keep except in exactly the right conditions.

When are yours coming in? I expect you to write a book on keeping choati.

i just wish i had my monster tank up and running ! i have the tank but thats the least expensive item in a setup . i probably have another $3000.00 ta go . once christmas is over i can funnel my funds there and hopefully get it up by feb. steve where did you get the two new choati's ? mine was mac certified so i have a good start i hope . i just dont know what the cold delivery could cause but he did look good . in hindsight though all the ones that i have gotten looked healthy as a horse so that really isnt an issue with such a difficult fish .

Well, my Christmas has been dampened quite a bit. DD informed me that my wrasse did not survive to shipment yesterday. What is a huge bummer is that there were two, and i was the first to order...I thought maybe out of the goodness of DD's heart they would ship me the other one and tell that poor buyer theirs died, but I guess all that waiting I did for the wrasse was in vein.

Well at least you didn't get them and then have them die (like myself). In terms of shipping you the other, while that would have worked for you, there's a large percent of the population that would be unhappy that they got a fish that was not the one that was picture in the purchase. And think about whoever got that second one... they'd be sad too :(

Sorry to hear that yours didnt make it. I was very skeptical that the ones live aquaria had were as healthy as they claimed, I have rarely seen them make it very long no matter where they come from or how good the "collection" is.

I do think that they should have asked me if i wanted the other one, especially considering the rarity of the item at hand and the known desire for such fish. I know the other person would have been upset too, but I have been waiting since the last pair came available, I almost got the pair, but they disappeared out of my basket as i was making the purchase. Oh well, no biggie though, hopefully more will become available.

Well, it is summer in OZ, so more should become available. However, I doubt that the other person, whose order was healthy enough to ship, would have understood why they preempted their order for you.

No doubt...that is why it never would have worked, but it was just wishful thinking on my part.

honestly mac cert. probably would not make a difference with thease wrasses but at least they would have a bit of a better chance . now were up to 3% survival rather than 2% . i guess anything helps if we need so much of it,they really need all the help they can get .
