ChrisQ's Upgrade Build....Again

I was able to get my ATO/RO storage set up and currently filling.

Things have been pretty quiet as far as the new build is concerned. I was able to stain and mount the front doors, still need to get the side door done though. Still no life in the tank yet because I am still waiting for the tank to cycle. I do have a nice chunk of dragons breath in the sump tumbling away though. I am starting to contemplate adding sand in the fuge section so I can add a few different species of macro in case some I decide on require a place to root. That thought is still up in the air though.
I have 3 anthias in QT currently going through TTM they didnt show signs of anything but wanted to do it just in case. All three are Lyretail's with one being a male and two females. All are eating frozen just fine and do not want to try getting them on pellets until I have them in the DT just so I dont have to worry about wasted food as much. I have the second transfer scheduled for tonight so I am about halfway there and they should been in the display soon! On a side not for the fish, while I am doing TTM I am also treating them with Prazi on transfer 2 and 4 since I have not read anything against doing so and might as well since I have then in QT already.
I picked up a used Neptune WAV kit yesterday and it should be arriving Monday/Tuesday hopefully. I was reading a whole bunch about my different options for powerheads (of the three I decided on) I truly still was not 100% which I wanted but the WAV was at the #1 spot and I did find a pretty good deal so I am not upset about the purchase. The main reason I picked the WAV was for the ease of programming through my APEX and of course the price. I know I could have picked up some vortechs but the price alone made me put them at the #2 spot. The other option were Tunze's but I fear they may not give a wide enough flow. Either way what's done is done and worst case if the WAV doesn't perform the way I expect I can always trade/sell but I have no real reason to believe they won't.

Hopefully the next update will be a little more exciting than just a punch of words but time will tell.

P.S. If you have an fish recommendations please let me know my current list is...
3x Lyretail anthias in QT
2x Clownfish in my old setup
1x Yellow Coris Wrasse in old setup
1x One Spot Foxface in old setup (I may not bring this guy along so I can but a PBT)

I love the first aquascape you posted. Love the sort of lagoon area on the left. The second aquascape is very similar to mine so I have to like it as well. If you are going with the second I would create a little more space in the trench between the islands as that will get occluded fast with coral. As far as fish, I LOVE anthias and cant wait to get more. You gotta have a tang or 2. Maybe look into some dwarf angels or better yet some swallow tails (spotbreast and masked face) or Bellus as they are as reef safe as you can get. I also love my basslets, both my royal gramma and my swissguard pair. Wrasses are always nice but you need a top, and its the only reason I haven't bought any.

I loved the first one too but when I went to mimic it inside the tank something went wrong and I completely messed up and couldn't find out what went where I got ****ed and took all the rock out and came up with the second scape, I like it and all but not like the first one. Only reason I kept it is because the two "islands" look is something I always liked so its staying. You are the second person that has told me to move them apart but I not sure how I can do so because I dont want to move any closer to the glass on either side. Im going to look into the fish you mentioned now.

By the way, there are a few stores that I saw on the FB pages that currently have some borbonius anthias in stock!! If I was more experienced with anthias I would have definitely been considering them, but I may have to pass by to give them a look.

Let me know how you like the WAV pumps. One thing I like about them is the ability to run them off one "power supply". So there is less cords and power supply bricks to deal with.

Anthias just need lots of current and frequent feedings. Perfect for an sps tank like mine. I was at reef addiction today and they had some sweet lyretails. I almost pulled the trigger but I was on my way to a dental appointment:eek:

Ill let you know when they come in and you're more than welcome to come check it out. Im really excited to play around with them on fusion. Another reason I like them is because they can sense being out of the water which helps me for my WC because i almost always forget to turn them off. I also read they can sense when/if they fall off the glass. BUT most importantly you know I love my anemones and they can sense when a snail or something else obstructs the impeller so Im hoping it can sense an anemone getting caught in it, which is actually something im not too interested to find out in my tank lol.

ChrisQ's Upgrade Build....Again

It's time to start purchasing fish, this is a list I came up with....

2x clownfish
2x tangs (powder blue and either yellow or tomini)
1x fox face (one spot but may not bring him along its in my old tank)
1x yellow wrasse
?x more wrasses just don't know maybe 2-3 total including the yellow above
?x anthias don't know which or how many, all of mine currently in QT have since passed except 1 and she's a lyretail so I MAY pick up 4 more

? = I want them just don't know which or how many

What do you guys think, should I add or take away or keep it just as it is?

This is an 80gallon right? I think you'll have issues with the tangs.

I only state this because Danny claims he has some issues with his powder blue in a 48".

I had a yellow eye kole in my 60 cube for algae issues and he seems fine. May want to look into that.

It's my understanding, from my own experience and from reading that fairy and flasher wrasses can be mixed.

I have a red headed solar and a lubbocks and they have no issues what so ever. I'll add a few to my upcoming upgrade.

Also, reading has stated that the more common anthias can be mixed since the aggression is usually only towards their own types.

Although I still have the 80 this stocking list would be for my new tank which is a 150, didn't feel like making a new thread for the 150 build. But the 80 will be taken down possibly this weekend.

Ah. Ok. Then scratch my stupidity. That's the one the new stand is for you built? The work looks good.

I would consider a third to add. But I also give bad advice.

Everyone says they seem to do best in threes so there isn't one tang being picked on constantly. It diverts the attention of the most aggressive.

No tank is complete without a yellow assessor :)

I would also consider a leopard wrasse or similar species.
