Christygirl's new Leemar 180 build!

Bookoo,

No, I am giving the tank to my brother in Phoenix.... He is finally going to take the plunge.....

I am going to sell my Red Sea max tank. It is 65 gallons and is actually a real cool tank.

If you know anyone interested in an AIO 65 gallon, send them my way.

I would appreciate it !

Cody,

Thanks for the quick response.....

Couldn't stand to short myself the extra 30 gallons!

Just not right in a hobby like this....

That's funny... I was at Ali's store yesterday when you were talking about ordering the tank... And yes you sounded excited :)

Cool deal, it's always fun to piece together a new tank.

Btw. Recessed Eurobracing is something I wish I would have done on my tank. Great call on that one

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III

Just a thought, you may want to run three 1.5" drains in that overflow so you can do the beananimal style drain (full siphon). I'm currently running that and couldn't be happier about the drain noise or lack thereof

Jmason95,

That is funny. We're you the guy with the little boy that wanted the bag? If you were, he was funny.

Yes I am excited and it was an easy sell to my wife, because she sees this as going from 2 tanks to 1!

Mike, (solitude)

Yes, it is only going to be recessed about 1/8th of an inch. Do you think 8 should go a little deeper?

Kenith,

I just was reading that thread.

I actually am going to edit my drawing when Ali sends it to me to add the 3rd drain.
S, the external overflow box is going to be 12" wide and 4 or 5 inches deep. I am not sure how tall yet. I also am wondering.....

If you have a chance, could you sketch your layout? I need to know how to orientate holes as related to the depth of the drains.

What I mean is this.....

I think i'll put the open channel on one side of the box and the full siphon on the other side of the box. Then I'll put the emergency drain through the bottom of the box.

It's will make the profile thinner by not having the sanitary tee's behind the overflow.

What I don't know is where to drill the holes in relation to the water level.

Logic tells me to put the top of the hole just below the bottom of the water comb.

Is this correct?

Any help or sketch would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I think 1/8th should be good. Just enough to keep the water from running down the panes.

Are you getting any holes drilled in the bracing? What type of powerheads are you going to use?

where are the 4 return holes going to be?

Decide your external box size. Then determine the bulkhead size (that is determined by return pump). Run one bulkhead just bulkhead alone. Run second one with a pipe (i.e. 1" PVC) 1/4 way up, run last bulkhead with piping 3/4 way up.

I'm running a 225 gal with a water blaster 10000. With this pump, I'm still not running my 1" main siphon at 100%.

As far as orientation goes, just have them center the holes within the overflow. I run 1- 1" main siphon 1- 1.5" catch pipe and 1- 1.5" emergency pipe.

I'm planning on upgrading and my external overflow box is only about 7" deep

Mike,

I don't plan on running any SCWD's, so I wasn't planning on drilling any holes in the bracing.... Maybe a hole for an auto feeder?

What do you think?

The four return holes will be equally spaced at the back. 1' from each end, then 1' over from that.

I plan to run 2 eheim 1262's

Lawrence,

My fish wish list is to combine my 2 tanks...

So, my purple tang and my flame angel are going to fishybeaner.

Then, my blue tang, desjardine tang, copperband, (2) ORA stubby clowns, 3 lyre tail anthias, file fish, lawn mower Benny, and tribal blenny will go to the new tank.

I have had all of these fish for about 2 years.

I want to do some leopard wrasses and bangai cardinals.

I will only add a few fish though. I don't want to have too many so that they are too crowded.

We will see..... I will keep you posted!

Any additional flow besides the 2 eheims? The suggestion for the holes in the bracing would be for future planning just in case you wanted to add corded powerheads in the tank. Holes in the bracing is another option I wish I went with for my tank

Nice set up Randy.
If you need Eheim 1262 . Lmk

Or Randy can use sea swirl on the braces. IMO

Mike,

I have 2 MP 40's running in antisync mode. I will probably continue to do that. Maybe 1 will add 1 more MP40. I am going to add 1 hole in each of the rear corner braces. GOOD IDEA!!!

Daniel,

I bought my Apex from you! Still works great. Added some stuff to it as well.

I am interested in your 1262. Please PM me the price.

Thanks.

Randy.
