Christygirl's new Leemar 180 build!

OK. I am real excited.... Here is an update:

Tank should be done May 2nd.

I just commissioned my steel stand. I have to thank Montego for setting me up with a real good welder. Stand will be 2x2 steel gusseted at all front and side corners. The gussets will have one hole drilled in the center to use as mounting points. I will skin this stand. The stand will have 6 leveling feet. Each foot is rated for 1000 pounds. here is a sketch of the stand:

Then, I am hving him make the 2 light brackets as well. These will also hold the canopy. Here is a sketch of the bracket:

The stand and brackets will be powder coated white.

Oh, by the way, he will have the stand completely done by the 28th of April.

He also TIG welds everything in lieu of MIG weld.

This is going to look cool!

After I get the stand, and with his permission, I will post his info.....

So, after I put the tank on top of 2 3/4" pieces of plywood on top of the stand, I thought the light brackets were to close to the tank......

What do you think?

I e-mailed him with a dimension change to 84" light stands instead of 78" light stands.

My thoughts are that this is easier to raise and lower the lights on a cable to work on the tank.

Randy:

The stand and light bracket's look great! I starting a build about that same size and want that same stand, just a bit taller. Would you mind pm'ing me your stand builder's contact info?

Art, you are going to go taller than 42"? How tall? That will be real cool. I will pm you the stand builder. He is doing the steel, I am doing the skin.

Ev'e.

I think this is going to be cool. I have decided to go with AI SOL BLUE's. 5 of them.

I haven't decided new or used yet.

How is it going?

It's going good. 5 more weeks and I'll be done with school

I would go with new because I've seen then for 50-100 dollars cheaper used. To me, the "extra" 50-100 dollars that you spend on a new unit is worth the warrantee. Also I would go for the VDM module and let the Apex run them.

Crongrats man. Sean's a pretty cool guy.. Glad you guys were able to workout the stand setup!

Montego.

Yes he is cool and he had been very helpful an understanding. You should post a pic of your stand. Do you have a build thread?

Thought you guys might like to see this.... Sean sent me some pictures last night.
I am putting heavy duty leveling feet on this stand. Here is how he is doing it:
There will be 6 of these.

I am going 46" or 48" tall with the stand. The tank is going to act as a room divider between my kitchen and living room. It needs to be as high as the backsplash on my kitchen counters. Add the 30" of tank height and I'm going to need a step ladder to get in the thing!

Thanks for the builder contact info -- your stand looks like its coming along nicely!
