Christygirl's new Leemar 180 build!

Today is the day to move the tank!

First I cut the foam to size and siliconed to the top.

Here is the tank uncovered in the garage.

I had one of our best subcontractors come over to help me move the tank. He is a glass guy and he brought 4 suction cups. Couldn't have done it with out them.

So, my brother in law, my glass guy, myself, and 2 neighbors moved the tank.

First we placed the front end of the tank (still on the pallet from LeeMar) on a carpet dolly. We moved it to the front door.

Then four of us lifted the tank. One guy pulled the pallet and the dolly out of the way.

Then we carried it to the room:

Then we moved it to the pool table:

Then, we moved it to the stand:

So, now it is time to start plumbing.

BY THE WAY, IF ANYONE KNOWS OF SOMEONE THAT WANTS A POOL TABLE, THIS ONE IS A REAL GOOD PRICE!

I'm chiming in...can't wait to see it come together. The bar sounds cool, but won't you need the pool table for when your entertaining?! :)

Pool tables in close proximity to glass fish tanks are a prime example of Murphy's law.

Tanks is looking good! What, if any, are the plans for the skin?

Very nice looking tank/setup. Will be following this thread to see how the plumbing and sump come along. Thanks for sharing this with us!

Update.

So this Sunday I built the ATO sliding tray for the stand.

Let me explain. I have a real nice ATO built by John. It has a 15 gallon capacity. I want to be able to fill it with the 5 gallon jugs without having to try to reach into the stand. My solution: Build a slide out stand to hold the ATO container.

Here it goes:
These are the bottom cleats:

I added one layer of MDF to the top of the cleats:

Then I added a second layer of MDF. I wanted to have a real thick top surface to use longer screws for the sliders.

Then a front and back piece:

Then I laminated the sides in black:

Then Laminated the top, mounted the heavy duty sliders, drilled holes through the top and pilot holes through the cleats.

Then I built the top tray. I wanted this to look kind of cool, so I laminated the sides in black and the top and inside surfaces in white.

And here it is all together.... I have a short video of my wife moving the drawer, but, I don't know how to embed a video....

Harveymeister: Thanks. I hope to start the plumbing this weekend.

good looking setup keep up the good work post more picz
Evonano: I will post pics all along the way, but, man is it time consuming!!!

nice tank..tagging this thread
Mr. Lamnguyen: Glad to have you along!

Pool tables in close proximity to glass fish tanks are a prime example of Murphy's law.
Reefermade619: I know... I have been nervous about that for 2 years.... I had my 65 gallon in the same room... I was more nervous about the pool sticks.... I will be glad when it is gone!

Tanks is looking good! What, if any, are the plans for the skin?
The entire display will be white.... EXCEPT for the skin of the stand. I want to do a weather and distressed grey skin..... Need to learn how to do it....

Nice! sorry I couldn't help. So what? 1 week to get it running?
Ev'e: No problem! You are welcome over any time and I won't even make you work.

I'm chiming in...can't wait to see it come together. The bar sounds cool, but won't you need the pool table for when your entertaining?! :)
Reefloverd1: I actually need more room to relax... Plus, I only think I am better at pool when I am drinking.... when in fact, I suck at it!

How deep are the grooves between the teeth?
Kenith: I believe the grooves are 1.25 Inches.... I will measure to make sure.

Hurry up, get some water in there. :) Looking good
Are you going to cover the foam you used under the tank?
Mike: Yes. The PLAM that I did is really just a good looking water resistant surface... The ledge will be wrapped in Pure white AVONITE. (Manmade solid surface much like corian). I can hardly wait to get water in here, but, I am not rushing it!

Wow!!! Awesome build. Looks like Lee Mar has really improved there tanks. When did they start doing external overflows? Are the teeth in contact and siliconed to the top eurobrace? They used to have a gap in the eurobracing to accommodate the internal overflow. This area always bowed.
You are quite a craftsman, keep up the good work!

looking great!!
Rik, Thanks. I appreciate the compliment.

Randy, you're doing an exceptional job on this build, keep it up!!
Jimmy, Thanks... I hope this tank will be exceptional all the way through conception.

What other equipment will you be using? skimmer, lights, powerhead, dosers?
Mike,
Skimmer.... Looking still. I have a BM NAC6. Too small... I will be talking to Spicycracker!
Lights.... I want a Sunpower 10x80 watt....
Powerheads.... I have (2) MP40's I also bought (2) Jebao 40's...
Doser's.... (2) BMT101's
Return Pump will be a Diablo DC10000 (it has been on order for 4 weeks now)
Sump.... Reuse from my 90
Chiller.... Reuse from my 90
Reactor's.... BRS reuse from my 90
Heater's.... Reuse from my 90 and my 60 both JBJ heaters.... can't remember wattage.
Eheim auto feeder for supplemental feedings....

Looks great
Lawrence, Thanks! Just imagine... It is only 40% of the size of your tank!!!!

This system needs an ATB skimmer. I almost forgot, I have one for sale :) lol

Very nice setup. :)

Spicycracker.... PM with your info. I may be interested....

Marcrothschild,

Thanks, Leemar does build a nice tank, but, there are some minor flaws. As for the overflow, I don't know when they started doing it. It looks cool though. The teeth are in contact with the eurobrace, but, I don't see that they are siliconed..... the piece is 1/2" though.... I will take some closeups of it. The back eurobrace is end to end though..... no gap.
Thanks for the compliment.... I am self taught and sometimes just a little impatient!

Taka tank is small but her execution is perfect

Its 100x better than Someone 50000 gallon tank IMO

Shirley tank is average size but nothing average about her tank

Well, for the last couple of weeks, I have been busy collecting parts, entertaining company, and work.....

I got all my valves on Wednesday:

Then, my millwork subcontractor got this ready:
picture.php

I think this will be delivered tonight for me to install this weekend....

I also bought all of my Black Flex PVC from Marine Depot.

I still need to get the Tee's, Endcaps, Schedule 80 Pipe, and Check Valves this weekend.

Update on my Pump... Kind of getting frustrated with this now.... Diablo DC10500 is delayed till sometime in July.... Best answer I can Get.

I also bought a Diablo DC5000 to test on my pond.... This is for my ever vigilant fight against Tier 5 pricing from SCE.....

I hope that comes soon..... If it does, I will be adding another one....
