Christygirl's new Leemar 180 build!

Pics of sump?

Couple of ideas:

Led light behind the check valves.
Design a plywood piece with half circles cut out to hold all 4 check valves at once- use a hinge and latch for easy one finger removal.

What color is the front facia going to be?
Wondering if you thought of powder-coating the lights white.
Add some nice type face/graphics to your control panel.

Such a tease! Lol can't wait for pics!
Reef of Flames, I have one pic to upload. It shows the tank, stand, and sump with the sand installed. I will take better pics of the sump tonight.

I am almost wired up!

See Pic below.

Where are the pics?
Mike,

Thanks for the fish! My wife really likes them.... Now she is naming them!

Very clean setup so far. I look forward to seeing it wet
Leveldrummer,

Thanks for the compliment! I think it is coming out real clean as well.
See the pic below..... Wet with salt and sand!

I want to some pics too
Ericta000,

I will try to upload more tonight.

Dude, Tank looks awesome and the sump is bad a**!
E've,

Qwuintus,

Cool ideas....
There is plenty of LED's under the stand with all of the pump drivers.
The yolk I have actually does hold all 4 valves and is real stable....
The reason I didn't do all 4 as one manifold is because I needed a way to feed the chiller. So, the first 3 valves are on the manifold with the end of the manifold feeding the "in" side of the chiller. The "out" side of the chiller feeds the last valve and it is spaced the same as the others.
I yolked the drain valves exactly like you are saying.

As for the powder coating.... I actually sent that light to phoenix with my friend for his tank. My ATI Sunpower Hybrid should be her later this week. It shipped on Friday.

No Graphics.... Trying to keep this clean Black, White, Red, and Gray

The skin for this stand is going to be incorporated into the Fireplace, window seat, Bourbon bar, and desk....

Long story short..... MY WIFE HASN'T TOLD ME WHAT TO DO YET!!!!!

So.... Here is the sand I used.... It is really nice stuff. I really like it. fine, but not sugar fine.

Here is the picture of the tank wet.... Adding salt in this pic so really cloudy....

I might add a few things....

1. The dosing containers on the cabinet end..... Gone! John is building me a 6 container doser.... Black acrylic with an inspection window in each slot. I am supposed to pick it up tonight, but, I dont think I can get there in time.

2. I installed the chiller.... Now, I am thinking about housing it in a black acryic shroud. This way, it will look cool in the stand and hide all the tubes and styrofoam. I will have a window in it to see the temp, and I will have the entire front of it vented. I will mount a fan in it for air flow.

The shroud will basically be 4 sided... top front and both sides. So, it will lift right off for easy access.

To all,

I will post some updates later tonight.

I have made some progress as far as the setup and I am going to start cooking my rocks tonight.

So, I have done a ton of stuff on the tank....

First of all.....

I got the doser container from John.... Pretty cool.

Here it is in the stand

I also changed out the Tek Light.

I am the proud new owner of an ATI Powermodule Hybrid

Let me tell you, this is an incredible light. It was tricky at first to program, but, I am getting the hang of it.

Here it is starting to be unwrapped
picture.php

I somehow don't have a picture of it hung.

I had to make some additional brackets to hang it, but, I will have to post those later...

I have a video of the unit, but, I don't know how to post videos here....

I set my autotop off so that it fills at the top of the tank now....

Because my water container sits higher than my sump, it would siphon into the sump....

So, a quick reroute of the tube to the top is all it took.

I started cooking my rocks.

So I need to take some more pictures....

The pool table is in the way of getting better pictures, but, I will hopefully have that gone soon.

The water is cycling. I am ready to start putting rocks in....

More pictures to come!

How did you cook the rock? And why did you cook it. Was the rock dry base rock?

Thank you

Marty

Marty,

The rock was once live rock. I put it in the bin and added 20 gallons of RODI water. Then, I added 1 gallon of Muratic acid.

I let it "cook" for 3 hours.

Then, I neutralized it with a pool strength base similar to to baking soda.

Then, rinsed and rinsed and rinsed....

Then soaked over night in RODI water with a pump for circulation.

Then changed the water.

I will probably do this 2 to 3 more times.

The reason I did this was to basically kill the rock and get to a point where it has close to no organic matter matter on it.

I am trying to eliminate as much of the crap that I can.

I am thinking about doing the soak that helps eliminate Phosphorus as well.

I think that I may use the Lanthanum Chloride method.... Not sure yet...

Might jus get it in the tank and go high on the GFO for a while before I add the fish.
