Chunk missing from harlequin starfish

I have a harlequin serpent starfish that I just discovered has a large chunk missing from his 'head'. Tonight I noticed he is acting very unusual (I suspect this is because he is injured)

Is there anything I can do to help the recovery or is he doomed? He was one of my first additions and a favorite of my wifes thus I want to do whatever I can to help.

What do you feed him?

I feed him krill, mysis, rods food, formula 1 pellets, flake, and formula 2 flakes.

I haven't specifically spot fed for a few months, but I make sure to blow food his way almost every time I feed so I don't think he is starving.
