Cinnamon Clown about to catch the backhand...

My Female Cinnamon (~4weeks in my tank) has recently started hosting my GBTA. Since then, she has become quite vicious. She won't let the male anywhere near the nem, and every time I stick my hand in the tank, she tries to attack me. Last night she was successful. I was placing a colony of yellow polyps in the tank, and she bit me off guard. It startled the hell out of me... I dropped the rock (and ripped off 2 polyps in the process), splashed water all over my desk, and burnt my hand on one of the bulbs...

So, to get to the question... how can I make her calm down? I usually use my free hand to distract her with a piece of airline, but I couldn't this time...

Sounds normal and a good thing. She territorial of her new home. You could try putting your hand in often enough that she will eventually get used to the idea but I doubt she will ever completely ignore the intrusion. The 2 clowns will work things out themselves. It isnt unusual for the femal to make the male sleep on the couch for a while.

I had a little white stripe maroon that did the same thing, I would feed the tank then stick my hands in to move rocks or place corals, the food seems to distract the fish a little, but good luck it gets annoying !

my male does that. Makes it hard to work in the tank. Used to use the turkey baster to scare it but i feed with that so it just looks at it for food. Didnt used to do it but now if my hand is in the water i have to look out.

my female clown tends to get a bit fiesty when im working on the tank around my RBTA. its normal... took a week or so for her to let the male in the anemone too...

My GSMs still attack my hand whenever I put it in the tank - and they draw blood almost every time. And this is in a 65 gallon tank that has over 20 clones, so it's not like they are protecting their one-and-only home.

The ONLY thing that has changed over the years is that I no longer yank my hand out of the tank when I get bit and startled. It saves me having to clean up the water splashed all over the wall.
