Clam attached to mini-rubble, not rock base

I have a large Cro Clam that I got about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

He is looking really good, color seems brighter every day.

But there is a little problem.

His foot is attached to a small piece of rubble and he has not attached to the rock base below him. He keeps adjusting himself, but since he isn't really attached to anything solid, he doesn't seem to have much control.

Any Ideas?

I look beneath him last night and tried to move the rock rubble (he squirted) and I didn't mess with it too much. I tried placing him down with the rubble pushed off the the side and he could get to the firm rock beneth, but he stayed closed for an hour, so I picked him up and the the rubble go back under him.

Still... Any Ideas?

Main thing is, he is trying to move and adjust himself to the light, but not being attached is making if hard.

Bump bump bump

The little rock rubble is just the size of her "foot". All her fibers are attached to that and it's keeping her from attaching to the more secure rock benith her.

Should I do something?

She is right under a MH and she is trying to alline herself with the light, but when she "blows" she has no control.

Should I glue the little rock rubble to the rock beneth?

Should I try to cut the fibers off? (I don't think so).

Should I just leave her and let her figure it out? (it's been 3 weeks)

Any other ideas?

If you cant get it to stabilize without removing the rubble, perhaps the best thing is to cut the threads and let it reattach to your intended surface. I usually strongly urge to not transplant, unless absolutely necessary. However, if you think the clam will not be able to survive in the situation as she currently is, perhaps drastic measures are necessary. Just try to cut the threads as far from the clam as possible.

OK - I manually have to keep her straight if she knock herself off the rock (about 1 every 1 or 2 days).

I'm going to give her some time to try to attach on her own for a little while more like you said.

But if she can't figure it out, I'll cout the threads (I looked at them and it wouldn't be too hard, the threads are clearly visable and I would cut close to the rock).

But like you said, I think that is a last resort.

Thanks for the answer

Buy the way - she does scare me when I hold her to look at the rubble - she squirts and it's kind of freaky - I'd rather not cut the fibers, just cause I know she will squirt and give me the creeps.
