Clam in distress or not?

I'm a complete novice when it comes to clams. Picked this guy up on Tuesday, and until now it's looked fine.

He's all closed up! Is this normal?

No, it shouldn't be closed up. Hard to tell what the problem is froma picture. Start checking your water parameters.

Water parameters should be fine. I do an Alk/Ca/Mg check once a week.

As for fish, I have a Clown, a Bicolour Blennie, A Yellow Wrasse, and a Hippo Tang. None of them show any interest in the clam.

Pay close attention to the Bicolour Blennie

ditto, all it takes is one small nip and the clam will stay closed all day

Pay close attention to the Bicolour Blennie

I asked this same question about a month or so ago and this was my problem. I watched him a long time and he never nipped but he was the problem much to my suprise. Get rid of the blenny.

Well, I think I'll be getting rid of the clam. The fish bother it by merely swimming by. I guess this just isn't a clam tank!

They get used to the fish as long as they are not nipping at it. Mine doesn't close to often as long as they are not getting too close. My gigas you can take him outside the tank and still doesn't close :)
