This is pretty odd. I have heard of clams dismounting and dropping to the sandbed if they don't like the spot they're in, and indeed mine has done this once. But overnight my clam moved from his spot in the sandbed (right next to a rock to which he was attached), and actually moved up in the tank. He is now perched on the other side of the same rock, in a nice little crevice on the top of the rock. I did a double take in the morning when I looked in the tank. It is actually a better position for him, because before when he pulled himself to the rock he got kind of sideways so the light was not optimal. Now he is mounted perfectly vertically with the mantle directly facing the light. I wanted to move him before but he almost instantly attached to that old spot when I first got him.
I'll take a photo soon, but has this happened to anyone else?
