Clam size

I just got a crocea clam about 3 inches long.I always thought you have to bowl feed a clam if smaller tham 2 to 3 inches.The guy at the lfs said he never does and has had no problems with any of his clams.What size do they have to be in order not to bowl feed.Thanks

up to 3" is a rule of thumb,but if it has been feeding off of light,just keep an eye on it.

I think at 3 inches your in good shape.... I never feed my clams but I guess feeding them anyways couldn't hurt.

I am adding invert food wich has phytoplanton in it so I hope the clam is getting fed.I doesn't seem to open as much as the first 3 days.For some reason the clam doesn't open as much as in the store.My dkh fell to 7 and I brought it back up to 8.6,PH 8.1-8.2 Cal is 460.The clam has good lighting its just I am wondering why its not as open as the first 2 to 3 days when I brought it home.

Clam has opened up.It seems both my clams opened more when alk was boosted.My alk is now 8.6 I have had it at around 9.6 latley but it fell do to faster evaporation( I removed plexiglass from top of tank)I have to adjust my Tunze osmolator because I have to put more kalk.Used to have 5 gal evaporate in 5 days now it evaporates in 3 days.Have to adjust dossage to make things better.

sounds good, don't feel bad about evaporation, i'm losing about 3 galons a day minimum
