Clam type preference and why

What type is your favorite and why? Pics are a plus!!

it's hard to pick just one. i love the Hippopus clams because you just don't see them that much (sadly i don't have one myself)

other than that all the Tridacna sp. have their charms.

i guess my favorite Tridacna is any one i have in my tank.

Purple Hippopus! I don't know why, but I really like them. There was on on DD yesterday, 7 inches!

they're all great.. I prefer maxima and crocea because of the colors but would love a derasa, squamosa, or (if I had a huge tank) a gigas.. they've all got cool features.. that said, if you stick to smaller clams you can have more of them in your tank

I suppose I should modify my post... gigas are my fav, I like the shell shape of large specimens and the mantle texture, but I will never have a tank large enough for one, or a forklift to move it.

The one I most want is a Gigas, because I don't have it and they are nigh impossible to find. Favorite is probably the maxima, particularly the blue 'tron' ones.

i used to have a blue gigs and it was incredible. by far my favorite. i had it in a 120 and broke the tank down and gave it to a lfs for his personal tank which was like 800g.

T. crocea because it is a slow grower and does not get too big.
