I noticed a bunch of clams at both Exotic Tropicals and Mr Aqua today. I counted 9 at Mr Aqua and even more at Exotic. Two crocea that caught my eye were $47 at Exotic. The same sized one at Mr Aqua was a whole lot more ($60 if I remember correctly).
Does Neptunes ever carry them? I don't get to that area much.

I have bought several clams from neptunes, a bright blue max, a teardrop max and ofcourse the huge gigas. The clams at Exotic trops are cool, he has a crocea that has an amazing color to it, reminds me of the paint GM used on some cars you know the one that kind of changed color depending on the angle you are looking at it from?
Also he has some tiny (1/2") maximas, they are amazing it would be fun to try them and grow them up

Yeah, but have you seen the price of the 1/2" maximas??? I guess aquacultured clams must cost a lot to breed/raise.

yeah I was a little puzzled that the 1/2" guys were the same cost as the 3-4" ones. I would have thought $20 or so would be more like it!
We'll see, I'll keep watching to see how they grow at the store.
But you are right the aquacultured stuff is expensive.

It's obiously more labor intensive than just collecting them, but you can still produce thousands in a few steps. It'll probably become more prevalent as the clams are over-collected.
