Clams with VHO

I have a 90 Gallon tank about 8 months old that is running 550 watts of VHO's. I have several LPS and a Monti plate doing well. I was wondering what kind of clam I could get with this setup. I am looking to put the clam midway up on the rocks. Thanks for the advice.

You should be fine with any species, IME. Derasa and gigas will do ok toward the bottom as well. Since most prefer rock anyway, it would be better to place them on the rocks in a higher position.

I just got this clam in a trade. He is under 2 150 watt halides.

Is he high enough? Its a tall tank 28 inches.

i traded some xenia for this and really don't know much about it.
Your saying it likes hard surfaces. Are these high light corals?

Yes, they prefer hard surfaces and high light. Sitting them higher up on the rocks would be the ideal situation. These animals are not corals, rather, they are in an entirely different group of animals.

My clams are under NO fluorescent lighting so I don't think you should have any problem at all. (1 squamosa, 2 crocea)

thanks for the responses.

I'm going to put him up about 1/2 way on a rock.

Thing with it is when he closes up when something swims by the force actually turns him in the sand.

I can only amagine what will happen on a hard surface.
I'm going to try and place him where it can be wedged in.

I kept croceas and maximas successfully under VHO for quite a while before I got my MH set up.
