Clarion Angel at Aquarium of The Pacific [Video]

when i was in L.A for reefapalooza this year, i had the chance to see this guy in the quarantine room before it's display was ready.

it's the reddest clarion i've ever seen and the video coloration is spot on.

here's a very bad picture i took with my cell phone of it being hand fed with nori. the color in this picture is abit too saturated, the white balance was off and it was a crappy cell phone pic.

but the exact color in that video posted above is very accurate. the nicest and reddest clarion i've seen.

that trip to L.A for reefapalooza was one of the most memorable experience for me. i saw the only captive clipperton angelfish in this same public aquaria and i took a photo with it. i'm so happy.

be sure to look out for the clipperton angelfish the next time you visit the long beach aquarium of the pacific. it's kept in a shallow tank with tons of mono angels and mullets.

after setting up the booth at reefapalooza, i had a chance to go down to visit the aquarium to see the clipperton angel which i was dying to meet.

and when we went into the qt for a little tour, and in the big blue fibreglass qt tub was this gorgeous clarion and a big humeralis butterflyfish. also a large copperband. (the humeralis and the copperband are also in the video above).

the clarion has so much character and would come up to eat nori which we fed.

Awesome pic of that clarion. I'm old too and remember when you could still get them in the late 70's fairly regularly here in So Cal. They were never cheap or common but once Mexico shut down that was it.

I can't wait to see the Clipperton. I walked right past it! I even have video of the exhibit, and didn't even see the clipperton!

Yes, a few! But not in that same tank. They have a tank filled with rare butterflies. Again, caution, its a very short video. I took these videos a few months ago, i really didn't know what was rare and what wasn't, except the obvious (Clarion).

I'll try and get out there again some time soon, this time i'll bring my good camera and do some real shooting. Expect a lot of rare fish videos in the future from me.

Again, I apologize for the short and not really any good video.

Got an update for ya'll. The Clarion is back in QT. Heres a quick video. The QT is a large tub, around 500 gallons. All to himself.

I would not say that it's any easier, but the price is certainly higher. I can get adults in the US for around $2500, but here it's usually 2 times that.
