Clayw's 39g Pro Cadlight

That kinda is a bummer, I like the nano forum...whats five gallons? oh well. this thread is getting a lot of hits in the southern california forum though so thats cool. Today Im finishing the plumbing, reaally just the return. I'll put some pictures of that up tonight.
Also our golden retrievers had puppies, we breed them and this pair just had their first liter. Now we have 11 ha. Their AKC papered, and full bred. definitly cool dogs, the male is 110lbs, so pretty big for a golden. Not my favorite dogs but my dad likes them.

OK I havent been keeping up with this thread as much as I have with this tank in the Southern California forum. So I'll do a quick catch up of the past 5 days, and if anyway has questions, throw them out there. The pictures are in order from the oldest after the first picture post, and they go until the most recent.

To combat the noise of water falling from the drain to the sump (I was dumb and didnt plumb it to just drain under the surface of the water level) I simply used a 1" straight fitting, and threw on a little more 1"PVC. You can see in the picture what I'm talking about. This makes everything ALOT more quiet.

I choose not to use glue to lock the extension up because I want to be able to take it off for maintanence, which allows me to remove and put on new filter socks more easily.
IMG_2445.jpg

I attached a hook by screwing it into the back wall of the stand, and as you can see, I tied a knot around it.
IMG_2446.jpg

Then I pulled the string tight enough to raise the filter sock up to the height that I felt was appropriate, connecting it to the plastic "bridge" you can see that is just beneath the plastic lip of the sock.

Shot of the sand and the macro algaes all mixed up.

I threw one of my nassarius snails into the sand of the fuge, I dont like them in the display anyways

I also raised the durso drain as a few people suggested to allow me to also maintain a higher water level in the overflow box. It worked! So that was cool. Everything seems cool as of right now. Just waiting for the water to clear up, its still pretty murky, which I expected nothing was added to the tank to pull that junk out till today. Only things really changing soon will be a different pump. Im going to swap that out for something more efficient. Right now Im leaning towards a Rio 14HF. I dont really want to spend the coin on a ehiem...

The water still isnt as clear as I'd like it to be. Diatoms seem to be starting to cover my sand. I am seeing life in there, quite a few amphipods, Ive seen a couple worms, and pods here and there. I saw a mysid shrimp a few days ago but havent seen any since, maybe that one went to Davey Jones.

Im some filter pads today to put in the skimmers chamber, there are some micro bubbles going into the display so that should help combat them. Pictures later and the clean up crew is going in on Sunday evening.

Be careful with that heater. I had one that stopped working and the temp controller started to smell like an electrical fire.

Other than that, your setup looks great! What are your plans for livestock?

Ok I will be, I'm going to be hooking it up to a RKL so if it fails the controller should kill the power. Im working on updating this thread and explaining more, I've just been busy with it in the so cal forum here on RC.
Livestock I plan on going with a midas blenny, yasha goby w/shrimp, long fin fairy or flasher wrasse, and a couple small anthias not sure what type yet. Oh and my clown that I currently have with a RBTA in the 22g.
Im going to focus this tank on SPS corals
