To combat the noise of water falling from the drain to the sump (I was dumb and didnt plumb it to just drain under the surface of the water level) I simply used a 1" straight fitting, and threw on a little more 1"PVC. You can see in the picture what I'm talking about. This makes everything ALOT more quiet.
I choose not to use glue to lock the extension up because I want to be able to take it off for maintanence, which allows me to remove and put on new filter socks more easily.
I attached a hook by screwing it into the back wall of the stand, and as you can see, I tied a knot around it.
Then I pulled the string tight enough to raise the filter sock up to the height that I felt was appropriate, connecting it to the plastic "bridge" you can see that is just beneath the plastic lip of the sock.
Shot of the sand and the macro algaes all mixed up.
I threw one of my nassarius snails into the sand of the fuge, I dont like them in the display anyways
I also raised the durso drain as a few people suggested to allow me to also maintain a higher water level in the overflow box. It worked! So that was cool. Everything seems cool as of right now. Just waiting for the water to clear up, its still pretty murky, which I expected nothing was added to the tank to pull that junk out till today. Only things really changing soon will be a different pump. Im going to swap that out for something more efficient. Right now Im leaning towards a Rio 14HF. I dont really want to spend the coin on a ehiem...
