Clean up crew for 24 gallon Nanocube DX

I have 23 pounds of live rock and I just finished my cycle, everything at 0. I have found some places that do packages but it seams like they only cater to the larger tanks. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For my 24g I got about 12 astrea's, 2 mexican turbo's and 4 scarlet hermits. It should be plenty to take care of that tank if you stay in the same range. I think if you get so many hermits, a lot of them will starve. Personally I'd stay away from the blue legged hermits as they have a tendency to eat snails

I don't know how true it is... but I have also read that blue-legged hermits will sometimes pick on the snails. It may just be due to lack of food though....?

i've never had aggressive blue legged hermits, and i've had hundreds. they are always the SMALLEST ones you can get. they are really great to have in your tank because they will eat some of the nasty diatom algae that can get growing in our tanks.

zebra hermits on the other hand are quite mean. i've seen those little b@$tards rip snails out of their shells and not even eat them.

I must be thinking of zebra hermits...? That's good to know.

This is why all of my zebra hermits eventually become (temporary)roomates with my mantis shrimp.

hahahahhahaha! awesome :)

Nassarius snails are good with sandbeds. Ceriths snails like to clean a bunch of verything and atrea snails are good with glass and rocks.

Those are probably the best snails IMO.

For hermits, you can go bluelegs or reds, or both, or none. Some people say hermits are too agressive, but as long as you keep empty shells around for them to grow up into, they shouldn't attack snails.

Good luck!

I would just buy inverts slow as needed for your tank, if you throw a whole bunch in, not needed per say, you are going to have problems not matter what, or so it seems to me : )

Thanks, I just got a blue legged, a red legged, two typical hermits, two turbos, two margaritas, and one Nassarius. They all seem to be doing great. I am thinking about waiting about a week before I add my first live stock, jawfishes, should I be feeding my cleanup crew anything. I was just wondering because nothing is really making a mess now accept for the cleanup crew themselves. Is this just a dumb question are is it really a valid. If it is a dumb question, please be nice with your answers. Thanks again for all of your help.

I hate hermits. I had 8 of them, gave them all away. They always crawled and knocked over all my frags. Now I only use 4 Nassarius snails.
