Clean up crew?

Hello, I'm in the process of replenishing my CUC do you know if there is a formula to determine how many and what type of creatures to add? I have a 72ga bowfront tank and am developing a small amount of hair algae in the corner overflow, should I add snails to the overflow?
Thanks :fish1:

Thanks Chuck, I really had not thought of an algae scrubber. I'll start to do some research on it. By the way how is it in the Phillipines, I saw you've had severe wheather lately.

The reason I asked about a formula is because I was checking out REEF2GO website and they had some formula as to the amount ofsnails per gallon of water and the amount of different species per gallon. I'm not that familiar so I figure I ask before placing an order.

Thankfully all of the weather passed us by although the northern island(s) got slammed with a lot of flooding and landslides.
I understand the desire to create a formula, which might be a way to simply get a start, but each aquarium's needs is going to be slightly different, which only you will be able to gauge over time wether you have too many of one or the other.
Please do check in algae turf scrubbers, I would never attempt to run a reef aquarium without one, besides their being a large part of any reef to begin with, it only makes sense to use algae to our benefit instead of waging a never ending, expensive war against them all of the time, that and they also create a huge amount of free, live zooplankton.

I wouldn't even put half that in my 270 gallon. Prob not even a quarter of that IMO. Just get a small amount and add them slowly. There won't be enough food for all of them, most will die and spike your levels. Keep an eye on things with tests over the next few weeks/months. Who said to get that many? Probably the supplier.

ReefRealEstate, do you realize that you are responding to a thread that hasn't been active in 7 years? Before you, the last post was 11/9/2009.

That's funny. See what happens when you're up late. Didn't even look at the date. Hahaha. Nothing like living in the past. I don't know what's worse, me making the mistake or you coming in to correct me on it.

I understand the middle of the night thing. But at least I was looking at a post that you made just three hours earlier not one from 7 years ago! But your advise was right on the money.

Touché man touché. I was going to wait 7 years to post that. Would have been pretty f'n funny.

Maybe I read that one 7 years ago and I was just researching my answer. I make sure what I write is accurate. I'm just a little slow.
