cleaner clams Great info

just thinking out loud but i wonder if you could get some of these for a qt tank ( with no substrait) so when you qt you can worrie less about nitra's.

Think this would work?

There was a discussion about clam filtration but I can't find it now. The littleneck clams were the recommended grocery store clam for use in an aquarium.

I've collected a few unidentified clams that were attached to caulerpa the washed up on Venice beach and put them in my tanks. Typical clam shape but they were only about 1" long. No, they weren't coquinas ;) .They burrowed into the sand right away and all I could see was their siphon. They all eventually died, the longest lasting one lived about three months. I suspect it was probably due to lack of adequate/appropriate food.

I don't think putting a burrowing animal in a barebottonm tank would be successful long term. Without the proper environment the stress would probably kill it.

ime, imo,

Also, if a clam dies buried in the sand realize it could foul your tank long before you know it's dead.
