Hey,
Just picked up my cleaner shrimp from the store. Here are 3 shots of him and a video. For adding him 5-10min prior to this is he acting OK. His inside legs seem to move really fast and crippled like.

I added my first cleaner shrimp today also.

But all mine did was swim to the bottom and has been hanging upside down on some rocks for the last 5 hours.

At least yours is moving around.

i think he's fine, he's calmed down. He was flying all over the rocks and his middle legs were going nuts. Now he is hanging upside down in an area with nice current. He was scouraging around for food earlier; walking around on rocks and picking at them with his legs.

Mine hid in a hole for 3 hours, I did a post called $20 whiskers. Now he chases down my fish so he can clean them, They don't seem to like too much. He also likes to clean my hand when I rearrange the tank. He's great.

Mine's still afraid of my hand. I watch him alot, probably because he's the first thing other than snails that have been in my tank. We'll say the first colorful living being.... not to include the turbos with coralline.

tomorrow I'm going to go pick up a pair of clowns.... then let the tank be for a few weeks.

Look at black spots on the shrimps body

Every time my cleaners molt, they get that black spotting, does appear to be some sort of something but it goes away after they molt the skin off... I bet in the next week or so, you see a skeleton on the floor

At first I had one cleaner shrimp and it hid all the time. Once I added a second shrimp, the first came right out and now they are always out. They really helped my coral beauty fight off ICH.

thanks for the info. I figured it was his insides because I've seen pictures of other shrimp with the black area on them. Now I know

Came out this morning to the living room and sure enough he molted. I tricked the wife and told her that his insides melted. lol
