How would one go about raising skunk cleaner shrimp (not sure of scientific name)? A friend of mine has four in her tank that are seen fairly regularly carrying eggs.

Well I know someone who said that they are breeding well and the babies are turning into adults in thier tank but I have not seen it so I could not tell you.

Their are generally two types of skunk cleaner shrimp in marine aquaria, that I know of, Lysmata Amboinensis and Lysmata Grabhami. You can identify your shrimp by how far the white strip goes. In grabhami it extends all the way to the very tip of the tail. In amboinensis it stops short of the tail followed by a red area then the tail fin.

You do not need four you only need two to breed since they are simultaneous hermaphrodites, each one is both male and female at the same time. In the Fish Breeding part of RC you will find Louis and fuEL they talk about breeding this shrimp. While it is easy to get eggs in most shrimp it is fairly hard to raise the larvea.

If your serious about rasing these shrimp larvae, I would suggest start culturing phyto first then brine shrimp or copepods also rotifers. Purchase a microscope, careful out there there are a lot of bad microscopes and people almost waiting underneath bridges to swindle people out of thier money. Then purchase or make a plankton kriesel...you cannot really raise these shrimp without one, although people are trying, the larvea run into the wall ever so softly and they die.(plankton kriesels are similar to jellyfish tanks).
