Cleaning Crew Suggestion

Hey Guys,

I have a 14 gallon biocube and have had some algae problems lately. My phosphates and nitrates are higher than I would like and are causing the problem. However I am wondering if my clean up crew is making it worse because there are simply too few inverts to clean up the stuff.

My CUC currently consists of:
1 mexican turbo
2 Nassarius snails
2 red-legged hermits
2 astrea snails

With my size of a reef tank, what would be your suggestion for a CUC? More? Less?

Any advice would be awesome.

Thanks in advance.

In my 12 I have:

4 Nerite Snails
5 Nassarius Snails (+babies)
5 Scarlet Hermits
4 Blue Leg Hermits
2 Zebra Hermits

Yes, some may say I'm hermit-heavy, but I don't really care. I love them. This crew keeps stuff spotless. They destroy algae (plus my phosban).

Thanks for the reply.

How much live rock do you have? I'm just curious because i only have about 5 lbs in my tank and I'm not sure if that's enough surface area to support that many inverts.

Click on my little red house above my post to see my tank. If I had to guess, I probably have about 7lbs? Maybe 8? Everything seems to do fine without a bunch of rock, I mainly just provide empty shells for them to switch back and forth with. I will say one thing, my rock is spotless, they are pretty good at keeping stuff tidy.
