Clkwrk's 180gBB SPS/LPS tank setup and progression log

Bax Thanks! I just pull out my durso's and get them in the sump .

Blutowski- I have lots of snails and I clean the front and sides once a week and the back every few months. The bottom can go almost a year before it needs cleaned the snails are numerous and lots of the time the flow keeps them on the bottom or frequently visiting the bottom.I also think that my 5x250de mh keeps it at bay along with low nutrients.

okay finally got my lil 15x15x15 frag tank .

BTW here are the wave box vids

and a full tank with all pumps + wavebox running

While I am at it I will also let everyone KNow that my tank took a good hit this week.

I came home from work to find the tank @89 up from the normal 80. I also had my aquacontroller command cord unpluged. So needless to say all my backup wasn't online either so 5x250's roasted the tank. I have lost 16 acros, a clam and some frags .

Nice man, but those frag racks are a real eye sore for me :eek2:

:D

Thanks they are for me also . The right side is another reefers stuff which hopefully he will come and get his stuff now after 3 months almost. The other side is mine and I just got to get my frag tank plumbed in under the stand .

I don't even remember what it looks like with out the darn racks.

That sucks to hear. everyone has one of those days or many. It gets very discouraging. The good thing is at least you know why coral is dying. I hate hearing about the mystery dieoffs.

Yeah its weird what can go wrong in a short period.

First my chiller got unplugged somehow and then I guess my cats got the aquacontroller cable . I mean what are the odds

I have many backups in place but all failed that day. Normally if the chiller fails or temp goes too high everything starts turning off if temp still rises more things turn off all the way down to just a single pump. But since the controller cable was disconnected none of the commands made it to the x10's .

So now I am hooking up a second chiller for backup and I am getting some direct connect power supplys for my aquacontroller that way those items that need to shut down during high heat can get their commands.

But this all could have been avoided if I had my controller setup to page me .

Let me just say that your tank is awesome... I just skimmed through your whole thread and was amazed by your setup...
I currently have a 50 gal reef, hoping to go around 180 when i move into a house, the condo is just a bit too small... I also feel your pain with the temp spike... just happened to me and lost a bunch of corals...

One main question for you, about how much do you think it would cost me to set up a tank like yours? Not with the livestock but just for all of the equipment...

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Good work.....

Thank you!

Below is my equipment list

5x250 roIII pendants @ 100 bucks a pop =$500
5x250 ice cap ballasts @119 each =$595
Mag 12 return pump $90
Asm G-3 $242
ER 8-2 $598
Custom sump $275
Calcium reactor with guages and bottle $450
2x6200 streams @$450 each$900
3x6100 streams @$332 each $996
Tunze 7095 Multi controller $241
Tunze single controller $59
Tunze Wavebox $504
Milwaukee sm122 ph controller$130
Reef fanatic ATo $139
Tunze ATo $169
Aquacontroller package$500

So right around 7000 including power strips mini powerheads, bulbs and such but it is minus the tank, stand, canopy and livestock.

Those are of course new prices I was able to find alot of the Tunze used.

So from the looks of that there are no dead spots in the tank at all. really nice equipment list though. why two skimmers?

ACII

bskiba- There are no dead spots but a few slower flow areas . It's kinda nice I get poo in 2 spots that are easy to siphon.

okay on another subject my frag tank is now going and my display will be free from racks by today I will also have a new full tank shot .

okay here is a new full tank shot :D and a side view. I still need to do somemoving around but its already 100% better with out those eyesore racks . I can deal with the tunze's but the racks just plain sucked.

Your tank is amazing and hope mine becomes half as beautiful as yours. I dont know if i missed it but what kind of camera do you use?

Thank you! Camera is a sony w-5. It really is a soild camera and has always given me great shots. I have even bought and played with the sony h-1,h-2,h-5,canon si2s or whatever it was and none of them impressed me enough to get rid of my w-5.

On a side note I haven't had anymore losses in the tank due to extream temps.
