Closed Loop Q?

Need some input. I am recently rebuilding my aquarium and I decided to go with an Ocean Motion 4-Way. I split up the returns to several different locations to maximize the random flow. Against my better judgement, I located two returns down low on opposite sides of the tank to keep water flowing in and around my rockwork and to help blow detritus up into the water column and (hopefully) into the overflow to be removed by my sump. I did not want any pipes hanging into the back of the aquarium or running down the sides etc.....

I figured this would be okay during a power outage since it is a closed loop. I know the bulkheads may leak down the line but so far the standing water test has had them proven to hold without a drop.

Someone please tell me they have returns lower than the water line on their closed loops to help me feel better (haha). I guess I rely too much on the mechanics of the plumbing parts. The good news is that any leaks drain into a floor drain in the concrete slab in the room, but the fact that the inhabitants would be at risk is my fear. I would expect any leaks on the bulkheads to be slow dripping so I might catch them before too much water gets out.

Any experience with closed loop returns located in other places than at the top of the waterline?

If i understand what you are asking correctly it is a non issue. And your bulkheads leaking should be a non issue if they are installed correctly.

I run OM 8 ways on both of my tanks and almost half of my outlets are far below the water line. Not in the bottom panel, but in the bottom of the back panel

Thanks guys.... That is exactly what I was asking. Returns located on the walls near the bottom. Thanks for the re-assurance.
