Closed Loop Question for Big Tanks?

I am currently running Lim Wave I 1/8HP pumps for my recirc. I am however going to remove them for a pair of submersible pumps that I will put into my overflow. I am in the middle of a sump re-design and as part of it, I will be scaling back on my power bill while improving the system.. More flow, less power, better filtration etc. I have run these Wave Pond pumps for several years. They are great pumps. I keep spares on hand in case of a seal leak but other than that, I swear by them. One of my recircs also drives my Carbon and Phosphate reactors in addition to returning flow back to the tank.
Are you asking about pumps or other equipment? Not sure of the question...

I run dual CLs...each is a Dart pump with OM-4 way on top. I like this arrangement because it makes for a very clean (no pumps) display tank. However, the outlets from the CLs produce very focussed water streams...Not as nice as the water movement produced by a prop pump.
However, I'm not about to put 8 prop pumps in my display! So...I like my CL's.

My tank came with holes drilled and countersunk in the tank's PVC bottom for two 1.5" intakes and five 1" returns for a closed loop.

Flexible PVC was used to connect the returns.
Large baskets were placed on the intakes and flow accelerators on the five returns:
The circulating pump is a Reeflo Hammerhead Gold,, rated at 5550 gph.

You've got 2 hammerhead closed loops on a 92 gallon tank? I have 2 Dart powered CL's...on a 400!
so you guys just use a pump and nothing else! just to let you know i do have a 450 gal tank that has been running for 5 years and im just trying to change the system around. right now i have 2 filters inline one with media nad the other with a filter. just looking to change things

CL is less maintenance IMO. I have to clean my powerheads much more than I clean my closed loop pump. Also you can have a lot of outputs all over the tank if you plan it right. With power heads you are somewhat restricted in your placement. How big is your tank?

I run a Sequence pump pushing 5500gph through a OM-4way. I wouldn't have it any other way. I hate powerheads in the display. Even on my 300g tank.

I have 2 darts feeding thru 2 Ocean Motion 4 ways. Seems to work great. I would make your drain line look like a cactus if you get the idea.....It gives you more water intake areas to keep fish and snails being sucked to the drain line and less chance for a clog. Basically you go up from the drain to a T out of the T in both directions to a 90 up to another T and 90 up on both T'sgiving you 4 water inlets for each drain.....Hope you get it. That was the way Paul at Oceans Motions instructed me to do it.
