Closed Loop Wavemakers

Other than the Ocean Motions, are there any good wavemakers to be utilized in a closed loop system with one pump. I know of the sqwd, but have heard that it clogs fairly easily.

Why not ocean motion? You’re supposed to clean those regularly. If you follow the instructions you won’t have a problem clogging. Many people don’t even clean them and they don’t have any problems. I guess it all depends on what you have getting sucked into your close loop.

I used a SeaSwirl for years, but my closed loop was an "up & over" setup...nothing drilled.

I don't have a closed loop now but did replace a SCWD on my previous tank with an OM unit and never had any problems. I forced myself to clean it once a year. I would not hesitate to use one again.

Guess I was looking for something a little less pricey and I seen a diagram for plumbing this thing. It seemed like it took up quite a bit of space b/c you were plumbing hard pipe into four different sides.

You could do the OM Squirt if you want something simpler. They even sell plugs to run it as a 2 point discharge.

I won't pretend that I have any experience with them...I just researched them and decided to go with powerheads instead for ease of installation, noise and electricty pull reasons.
