california and the cloves.. well the cows come here for the sunshine. they make great cheeze. he he.

update on mine with the slugs some are recovering slowly. freshwater dip was really hard on them. still pulling a stray slug here and there. i think all and all they will make it.

vary nice audio, that is one that i do not have. looks like its growing well for you too.

I thought you had those? Your photo's of them is what made me want to get them.

I have a question for all who has been keeping up with this thread or anyone who has cloves.

I would like you guys and gals to please talk about the size of the cloves you have. Like how big each polyp is etc....

I went to a LFS monday and saw these cloves that I must have. They where pretty big and they had nice colors on them. This is the 3 time I have seen some giant cloves. I was wondering do you think there are other species that get big or do the small ones that most people buy and have in their tanks are not matured and have yet to grow to full potential ?

light might play a factor, I have ones around 5 inches away from my MH and the polyps are like palm trees, they're huge. Colorfulcorals.com has around 5-6 polyps left of them.

I dipped all my colonies in FW for 5 mins, the cloves really hate this but they recover with a few days or up to a week, just depends. I then looked for the egg sacs and picked them of also. The FW dips will not kill the eggs. I finally think I killed all of them because I have yet to see any for months.

I suggest doing FW dips on new clove colonies before putting them in your tank and look for egg sacs on the rock.

I wish that I would have read this earlier this week! I added a waving hand that turned out was past the point of return. When I pulled it out of the tank and put it in a container, there appeared to be some type of worm or something. I couldn't get a clear picture but posted in reef discussion. Here's the pictures and now I wish that I would have FW dipped them, not that it would have helped this particular coral. It smelled awful!

I don't think light has to do with it. What you posted are daisy polyps I don't consider them TRUE clove polyps and yes these do get pretty big.
