Clown Compatibility

So I have a really docile and laid back Maroon Clown. He is really passive towards his current tank mates and really never shows aggression. My question is, could I add a Snowflake Clown to the tank without the Maroon killing it? I have heard before that this is impossible, but I'm not so sure.

If this is a mature Maroon clown in a 36 gallon tank you're very likely to have issues. You'll need a young clown that you know is not female. If you have had the current clown alone for more than a couple months it's a female now and will not tolerate the addition of another female clown.

If you're able to get an immature clown or one that you are positive is a male you can remove the current clown for a few days to allow the new clown to acclimate. You can also change around the scape to establish new territories.

Once I have lost the male clown to a Maroon pair I had mucho difficulty introducing another clown to the female without her killing it.

Good Luck.

Maroon clown docile and passive? LOL! That's funny because they are the most aggressive of clownfish species. Give it time and you'll see why then you'll hate him. Not recommended to mix clownfish species in same tank. Any additional fish in a 36 gallon tank, surely he won't accept any newcomers in his domain. Maroons get upwards to 6 inches or so fully matured.
