Clown eggs

so are they swimming around in the main tank??
or do they get eaten by inverts and such?? or blended in powerheads/filtration?

Pretty neat. My pair of false percs laid eggs in the last week. The eyes are clearly visible now. I am curious as to what will happen next.

so out of all of these eggs, not one can survive without special feeding and removing them from the display? Seems like luck would have a shot one of these times...

Well, once they hatch they will almost immediately be sucked down the plumbing to the sump. That violent process might kill them right there, not sure. Once in the sump, they might be sucked into the protein skimmer. Outch! If not, they will end up in a tangle of Chaeto where some worms or pods will surely eat them. It would be a pretty long shot for the larvae to survive.

In the wild, they swim to shallow water that is filled with tiny zooplankton that they can eat. Even so, at best one or two from each clutch survive. Why do you think they make 200 eggs a month? : )

No new pics, sorry. The larvae got a little bigger and well-defined, then they hatched between 9am and 10am. I mostly missed it. Next time I'll be ready (maybe)!

They laid again already on Friday! I got to see the process this time, and it looks like they laid a lot more eggs.

Here are the new eggs, laid on Friday night. These seem darker than the first batch.

wow, try and keep these ones in a QT i dont know about circulation since they will get sucked up into anything, But maybe a drip is enough movement? TRY AND RAISE THEM!!!

I caught some of the larvae tonight! Put them in a cup. I don't have the supplies to take care of them, but let's see if I can get any to survive on a non-live diet. Pics to come.

Pics to come.

its food for the tank bro, that's it.....if you want to raise em then you need to plan for it and even then its slim to none. Do it before mom and pop figure it out and stop doing it.
