clown fish and anemone

I was looking at a few threads, primarily the ones with pictures of reefers anemonies.

there was a comment that was posted how the clown fish did not take to an anemone that was placed in the tank.

If the anemone is normally a perfect host for the clown fish, what would cause the fish not take to it?? why would they look for a different home?

In the wild, certain species of clownfish only associate with a limited number of host anemone species. The number one reason for hosting difficulties is a mismatch between natural host anemone and clownfish, the most common being BTAs and percula or ocellaris clownfish. The second most common reason is the growing popularity of captive raised clowns. IME they are less likely to take to an anemone, even a natural host.

You will likely have little trouble pairing up a wild caught clown and one of its natural hosts.
